You're most welcome, Butte, I'm just glad to help - and do practice on some throw-away material first! Not that great jacket of yours!

Cheers, mon ami! :)

I bought one of these a couple years ago. It was an XXL I think. It fit, but it was huge/puffy looking and the sleeve circumference was huge. I took some measurements and called Johnson Leathers in CA. He took it and tailored it perfect. I couldn't even tell they had taken it apart. Fits perfectly now.

I wore my new heavy (supposed to be the weight of an original) Buzz Rickson N-1 HPA non-stenciled jacket here in NYC on Tuesday. I took a five mile walk with temperatures in the 20s and, with the wind chill, it felt like it was about 10 degrees. I only wore an old US Navy sweater underneathe. The jacket kept me quite warm. It's really a great N-1 repro.

Awesome! $31 for one stamp, but at least I'd not ***k up my $500 jacket LOL :)

Maybe someone(s) here want to go in with me and we can all use it and split the cost???
Scott,

I purchased his exact stamp a couple of years back. It seemed pretty nice and served its purpose, but as you can imagine, it's a one shot deal and being precise is an absolute must or you ruin a perfectly fine jacket (other other article). If I still knew were the one I purchased was, you could have the thing. However, for the life of me, I don't know where in the hell it is.

Well, thanks to Emergency Ian, we now know it's decent quality - and with a lot of practice beforehand on various materials, I reckon it's the answer.

Now, if only Ian could have a sudden revelation on its whereabouts …! Sounds like you're in no rush, so I'd wait for it to happen.

I think I'll get my wife to use the stencil and have one made here. They're cheap. If I do, I'll offer it up to anyone here that wants to borrow it. Looks like a great way to go...now, what ink to use???

my Pike Bro N1 came with a stencil - for marking fabric i normally use simple Acryl paint - thin it down a bit so it gets a better "Connection" to the fabric and after drying i iron the paint

works pretty well

btw. also got one of those USN stamps from ebay - made some samples but didn't work that well
