Thank you! I know it's short for many people, but it's not short against the trousers and jeans that I wear.

I do it because I've seen many pictures of guys from back in the 30s-50s doing it. Turns out they did it for several reasons: partly to avoid scratching car fenders, the backs of guitars, and to avoid poking their stomachs when lifting things.

He was the coolest dude in the 90s. Way better fits than Goku.

Are you talking about the white jeans or the blue jeans? The white jeans are a bit slimmer, but the blue jeans I shared are the same jeans I'm wearing with the Himel.

But I get your point about weights of top and bottom half.

Yeah the fur could stain a bit, but its an off white and not pure white which should help. The jacket will ovviously age over time so as long as i dont spill a bottle of ink on it, i should hopefully be ok

I think the blue jeans don’t work with the jacket (whereas the white jeans would work because they are slimmer). Your buco j22 outfit works better because the jeans are slimmer imo.

I have to do this by necessity. I had my belts shortened from when i was 2-3 sizes larger so they are super long, if I wear it normally the belt end sticks out the sides and often gets caught on my jacket. Putting it one belt loop over allows me to tuck it just enough to reach the next belt loop.

Takes a little getting used to when removing the belt to use the restroom though lol

I have several belts like that, the tip after the buckle is almost long enough to get into the side loop but not quite, so I wear leather key hanger thing as an extra loop to secure the belt tip,

when you wear your buckle on the side I wonder too when using the restroom how to make sure the loose belt won't suddenly sag and deflect the stream back onto the sender lol, with normal buckle position I usually secure the open belt strap into my pocket because usually we wear 4mm 5mm thick vegtan strap and sometime fingers are not secure enough to hold it

Can you tell me which Buco J22 outfit or outfits you're referring to? Besides the white jeans. I already understood your point with that. I don't agree, hut I get it. I'm just not sure what/if there are other jeans you're talking about.

It's a stunning jacket, I love the color combination. But personally I would have added two or three inches body length.


I don't see a reason why you should confine to short jackets only. Actually, I think the longer body length of the Vanson for instance looks absolutely great on you. Much more flattering than the Buco imo. I'm not sure how to put this into words but the longer jacket length makes the outfit as a whole look more balanced and relaxed.

Dude Jake, sorry for OoT but I'm just curious why do you wear belt with rhinestone decoration but with the buckle worn on the side? is it visually better or for any particular reason or functional reason? I see biker often do this but they wear plain belt probably so the buckle of the MC jacket don't get stacked over the buckle of their pants when seated (avoiding double buckles situation) or perhaps to not scratch the fuel tank paint by the needle of the buckle, or perhaps so they can bend their waist more, hugging the bike more without buckle digging into their tummy flesh. but in your case I wonder since your belt is decorated and the decoration looks slightly off center as well

Musicians do this too so their basses and guitars don't get beat up.

Does have a nice Western vibe, I like it. A grizzly is on my long-term list; likely one of the Cathcart jackets if they can be persuaded to do another run. They last did one about four years ago, I think, and sold out very quickly.

It's something you'll see in a lot of older photos, of rockabillies especially. Largely started as a biker (and, as @Faux59 notes, guitar player) thing, but, like leather jackets and engineer boots, was gradually absorbed into a fashion thing.

This piece feels like a pure celebration of your style and I’m so here for it. Good on you for getting so creative and involved in your partnership with a talented (if polarizing) maker (glad Himel’s jacket skins are thicker than his own!)

Fit and taste are so subjective — if you feel good in your jacket, then it’s exactly the right size. Stoked for you brother

First of all, this is simply a statement of fact and no offense to everyone. The jacket turned out very nicely in terms of the configurations (that was probably mainly the customer's input). Looking (only) at the back of the jacket, I have marked the stitching flaws at a quick glance (9). That's more flaws on the back of this jacket alone, than I've ever seen on all my japan made Leather Jackets, and there were quite a few. As I have mentioned in other posts, I personally don't mind such "small flaws", it gives it that individual touch. I am also sure this has certainly already been noticed @dudewuttheheck, but has so far remained silent out of politeness.

Note: I personally (also an HB Jacket owner) simply felt obliged to give my opinion when I read the post above and took a closer look at the back of the Jacket. I don't want to lead this thread in the wrong direction either... because the customer should be more than satisfied with this beautiful Jacket. As I said, I noticed these flaws in the photos of the back of the Jacket, that's all I commented on...and it goes without saying this contrast stitching is not forgiving of stitching errors.

This type of front pocket was never intended to store your hands, but rather small items, which is why they are also called “Cargo” Pockets.

Thank you! I really appreciate that. In a way, I'm glad it's something that many people would not wear, yet still appreciate. I love when I can appreciate something that I would personally never wear like a J-100 or some 1970s style jackets.

Yes I have refrained from commenting on this as it wasn't my focus. I think we all know at this point that Himel jackets have pretty high SPI, but don't match top tier Japanese jackets for Lazer straight stitching. I'm happy overall as there is nothing horrific or glaring in terms of flaws. Plus, the design, pattern, and fit turned out exactly how I wanted. Nothing wrong with pointing out these flaws though, It's important to be as objective as possible.

As stated below, they're not to put your hands in. I can put my phone or keys in easily and get them back out which is all I would need from these pockets.

On a jacket this short, slash pockets would actually be a worse idea IMO because the pockets would be higher than id like to rest my hands. I use my handwarmer pockets in longer jackets because its more comfortable to have my hands a bit lower. I tend to not use handwarmers on my shorter jackets.

Exactly. I didn't get them for practicality anyway. They can fit a few things if needed and the jacket had an internal pocket as well for my phone..

I agree, those small stitching bobbles are totally inconsequential and wouldn’t bother me either. I think I would’ve added a drop like this:

This probably translates to 3” in real life whereas I think 2” would suffice. The peaked drop it currently has reminds me of my Schott ranchers, but the drop is spread wider across the front hem:

I don’t have a side view pic but it’s insanely short in back for me at 24”.
