Hi, been a lurker for awhile but finally joined!

Been interested in hats since 1989 when my mum bought me my first hat from Lock & Co, I am a huge fan of Gunner Foxx hats and like Nick Fouquet (I know he’s not popular around here and I do agree with some of the arguments regarding his trade marking the match stick) another big favourite of mine is Peter Hornskov.

also love vintage and more traditional hats such as Stetson

I always thought it was a most thoughtful gesture on Fouquet's part to provide the match with which to burn his horrid creations.

The cap is a custom made Gunner Foxx, in the style of a 1930’s sky scraper construction workers, I love Gunners work so much attention to detail.

Hi. New member here I´ve had a thing for hats since my teens. First it was Stetson "cowboy hats", but in the later years I´ve come to like Fedora types.
I find hats are insanely overpriced where I live, and most quality hats are too big for me, so I´ve never really had any until recently - .. Which brings me to why I joined here; I want to know more about my finding, but do I just start a separate thread, or is there a "Identify my hat" thread?
It´s labelled Rousselet, but to the best of my knowledge, that company is long gone, and the hat looks in too good a shape to be pre 1934, so I´m confused.

Your best bet is to use Google search and if you include say....rousselet fedora lounge....any mention of the that brand in any of the threads will come up. Using google is far more effective than using the Lounge's search feature. This is your best first step. It is certainly not a brand of which I am familiar but we do have folks here who are aficionados of European labels.

Yes, it could go either way. Just my opinion but the style is not highly desirable at least here in The Lounge. Stingy brimmed casual hats are owned by a lot of the guys here but they don't fetch much on the open market. Even if it is old and a rare brand it is not likely of high value. That being said the value really lays in your eyes....if you like it, wear it and enjoy it. If you have just found only two references to the brand they your chances of finding out \details are not looking good. You could try a corporate records check if it is a manufacturers name but often with obscure names they are manufactured by someone and branded for resale so Rousselet is not the maker just the seller.

^I don´t really care about value, I like it because it fit, and isn´t too big. I think we can all agree that a large hat on a small head looks kinda goofy. But I would really like to get details about the exact type and age.. Unfortuntately it´s tough -perhaps if I try to make a separate thread and upload images?

There is another thread titled "Ask a question...…". It is well perused and probably as good as any thread to try. Most of the hats threads are looked at by the regulars so no too much gets missed over time. If you don't get a response it more likely means no one has any input rather than it not being seen.

What confuses me is your saying that most quality hats you find are too big! That’s a first. It’s relatively easy to find great vintage hats in small sizes, but as size goes up they become scarce and MUCH more expensive.

As to identifying your hat, detailed photos of the liner, sweatband markings, and any tags hidden behind the sweatband may help. I love heathered felt. The overall proportions of your hat don’t look 1930s to me, but I claim no expertise.

I’ve had a half dozen hats pass through my hands with brands I hadn’t heard of before. Then, as now, you could have one of the actual hat making companies make you a store brand hat with your own label and markings on it. Sometimes we can divine who actually made it, and sometimes we can’t.

It looks like a respectable lid, and might deserve the attention. No matter what you discover, if it fits and you enjoy it it’s a winner, my friend!

BTW... where are you finding all the “too big” hats??!!

Any hat with a very wide brim and/or a tall crown is too big when you have a relatively small head.. I look like Mr. Hat from South Park if I wear something too big (yes, I have the beard too) In the other thread I´ve posted pictures of every label or identification mark I could find -But I just discovered a small size tag sticker. It´s a size 54
