Hey everyone, new to the forum but long time hat enthusiast. I have recently rediscovered my grandfather’s hats that I got when he passed in 1977. I’ll make a separate post on one of them to see if anyone can help me date it.

Hello there! Yet, another fresh member here
I stumbled upon this site and forums while looking for information about some vintage stuff and antics I came across and bought out of pure curiosity (well, not only because of curiosity... hate to see it only gathering dust, I really like the old time gentelman wear, and.... my gf was not around to stop me ).
Till now I have not even realized such a great community existed - there is so much to read and so much to learn.
I will post some of my findings, as soon as I get a better grip of the forum rules, because right there is way to much information to go through, and some of the questions I have were propably asked a milion times

Hello all! My name is Seth, I’m new here and to hats in general. Looking to find something that’ll really fit my face well.

Welcome.
After a while a lot of us start thinking all hat styles fit our face well.
If you're planning to invest in one hat though, a trip to a good hat store, if there is one near you, might be your best bet. Then you can try on a wide variety and check them in a mirror.

It’s been about 1.5 years since I placed the down payment and I’ve reached out by email a few times over the last few months, but I haven’t received any replies. The website looks like it hasn’t been updated in a bit, and the FB site hasn’t had a post since last October. Are things still in business over there?

You just have to be patient. I ordered 2 hats, one for my wife and one for me, and both took close to 2 years. Bob makes an incredible hat, but you have to know going in that it will take a long time to get it.

Thanks for the reply. I think the last one I had made took a year or slightly over. I love the quality and knew there would be a wait. I just haven’t heard anything or seen updates on the FB page in a while. Was just hoping everything was ok. Figured this would be the place to check in.

I would have ordered one long ago if it wasn’t for the long wait. The felted edge on a custom dyed eggplant has been calling my name.

“...I am a one man shop and my current lead time is at least one year.”

With actual wait times of closer to two years I’m just not interested. Bob obviously has all the business he needs and won’t miss mine.
