Need help with highwayman sizing

Greetings,

I have started looking into getting a USED/secondhand Aero leather jacket. The highwayman in FQHH but can't seem to figure out if the one I'm looking at would fit me. It's a size 42

I have an athletic build
6 foot 2 around (187cm)
Fluctuating between 200lbs to 210 lbs (90kg to 95kg)
My chest it about 43-44 inches around (110-112cm)
About 25inch(64cm ) sleeve length
With about a 37 inch (95cm) waist

Don't have a place where I can go and look at one in person so I need some advice.

Depends how u like it to fit. I like some Room. I sized down one from chest size for mine. Would not want any bigger. Could maybe go two sizes down if leather was thinner and shoulder width increased some. Going used is a good option to determine fit. I bought new and waited for a couple new premier versions to find out in the end I liked the standard hwyman. You get back about 1/2 what you pay for a new one if you flip it. Used can pretty much get what ya paid. Good luck hope it works out for you.

Short answer, 42 should fit you pretty well.

My measurements are pretty similar to yours Oleg and I have a Size 42 Highwayman that fits nice and trim, just a hair tighter in the shoulders than I would like but it works. FYI I also have a size 46 Highwayman that fits me well, though not nearly as trim.
I have found with Aero jackets that the printed size tag means very little and it is important to go by the actual measurements of the jacket you are looking at.
Perhaps if you could post the measurements of the jacket you have in mind it might help us to have a better sense of whether it sounds like a good fit for you.

Currently trying to get the actually sizes but there is a bit of language barrier. I live and I'm looking at a jacket here in Japan. The owner just said it's size 42 and that's it.

That's about where I'm at but I wear size 34 jeans so close enough.

Thanks for all the replies. Sadly the seller removed his listing before I could buy it. I guess it's going to be a waiting game now to see if I can find one in my budget and size.

I think you may be fortunate that he removed it. For these jackets complete measurements are mandatory. As mentioned, simply saying a 42 is almost useless. They are made to measure. It could have had a 42 chest with 22” sleeves.

Yes!
And with Aero the chest measurement can vary quite widely from jacket to jacket, regardless of what the tag says.

As we say around here - there will be more! Just be patient - get the sizing right the first time and save yourself tons of frustration and $$$

It's probably best to get to know what your key measurments are - what do you need for a good fit pit to pit, arm, and back lengths. Sometimes a jacket seems to be a good fit but the sleeves or length is too short or long.

Once you know your key measurements you can compare all jackets to what you need rather than take a punt. In a HWM I fit a 38 or 40 depending as they vary a bit. Generally the advice from Thurston Bros is that this pattern fits a size or two larger than labled. I am 187cm, 86 kilos (six two and 187 pounds). For example, In just about any jacket avaialble I need 23 inches pit to pit and the HWM in 38 is generally 23 inches.

It's worth finding a suit shop you could go to and get properly measured, most places in the US will do it for free, not sure how that would be in Japan. Worth the time & effort, then you can provide those ot Aero when they return to work and say - make me this --

What's your climate like in Japan? I have an idea it's a warmer than average climate - maybe 5C - 35C perhaps? If so, I would encouarge you to consider Vicenza leather and simple cotton drill or sateen linings, so you can get more wear out of it. This is what most folks in Australia prefer as well.

Japan is a temperate climate, probably the same as most of the northern US, depending on where he is.

It would only be a winter jacket because spring, summer and fall are warm and humid for the most part.
