I got to shake his hand way back in the early 70s. My dad was a big fan and took me to see him and the group in Portland OR. I remember it was a firm and crushing handshake to a 12 year old. Memories.Bernard "Buddy" Rich would be 100 years old today

a bit of a pompous ass ... but a good man under it all
The closest I ever got to him was seeing him perform on the Johnny Carson show when I was a kid. I am still in awe.
