Hey Mike,

So if I measured correctly its 3 1/4 on the sides, 3 1/2 front/back side and about a 4.5 inch crown (measured on front side). I had Mike at Buckaroo Hatters put this one together. He could dial you in the exact specs for you. It's one of my 'go to' pieces. Honestly, a bit surprised no one else had this one done....though it might not be enough of a standout piece to catch a lot of eyes. I think its a great combo of Western and Fedora.

Hi
That's not exactly an unusual piece in that the whole US Army wore those between about 1870 and 1905 (roughly). I started a bit smaller though back a few years ago. I took that picture May 22, 2012. I wear it regularly here in Oklahoma.

I also have a larger version in Sand, and a more conventional Cavalry version in Natural.

I recently rewatched The Goonies and noticed that Jake Fratelli (Robert Davi)'s hat in the film looks an awful lot like the Herbert Johnson that Indiana Jones wears from The Temple of Doom and The Last Crusade. Does anyone know if it is the same hat or a similar model?

Don't know where else to post this, so here is as good as any place. Been watching the Watchmen series and thought that the mansion where Adrian Veidt (Jeremy Irons) is kept had something familiar. It did because I've been there. It's Penrhyn Castle in Bangor, Wales. Fabulous place (highly recommended). I have some pictures of it to compare.

It was before I started wearing hats (real ones, that is):

And to stay on topic: there were some hats there too!

Cargo pants, long sleeve tee-shirt, and a baseball cap...who is it really? ;)

I am not much into movie hats. But have to admit Tom Selleck has sported a few good ones in his westerns.

I typically build my own hats. Copied a few movie hats for friends when asked but other than TLJ in Lonesome Dove not hats I would mimic and wear myself. Or at least that is what I thought :D

I like a pretty plain hat so there isn't a lot of options, just some nice detailing to be done that sets the hat apart. I built this one a couple of years ago and haven't worn it more than a day or two since but I like it a lot. When I started this felt besides a big brim and open crown I really didn't have any expectation as to final form.

Went looking for something "new" to wear the other day and pulled this one down. Never did wear it for long. Instead I put the steamer and brush to the same white hat I had been wearing. Good enough.

Then a week later I was looking through some video and up popped this one of Monte Walsh.

Guess my pea brain was impressed enough with one o Monte's hat to copy it. I have a 50 Express, '86 carbine as well. But that was intentional!

Either way always fun to have a "new" hat no matter how long you have owned it

I wear cargo/tactical/bdu type pants all the time. lol, even with a suit coat
I have two or three pairs of cargo/tactical/bdu pants somewhere around here that I've worn when I knew I'd be doing something that would likely get me dirty--yardwork, straightening out our junk in the garage, helping someone move something, you name it. They aren't fashionable under most circumstances, but they're probably the most comfortable pants I've ever worn.

Hi! I am a big Lonesome Dove fan, and I am terrible with initials and acronyms. Who or what was TLJ?
