Well...let's just say he has something special for me in the queue.
Intrigued!

Absolutely stunning! My Gannon took a little bit of steam to set the crease. Either way Michael is a true artist. Wear your hat in good health Brent. My latest Gannon: pure beaver in the steel color. Michael just called the 2 1/8” wide ribbon dark blue. The wider binding is tone-on-tone. The open crown is just over 6 1/8 inches open and the brim is a full three inches wide. The felt has almost a suede/antelope finish and is buttery soft. The hat encourages you to only touch the brim because the crown is so moldable that the crease will change if you touch it. It’s not the paper thin felt of some vintage hats, but it’s not too far from it. The felt also has a bit more spring back than the best vintage felt, but all my shaping has been done dry and it holds a crease well. Absolutely fantastic hat! Michael works magic with felt.

Michael finalised my hat's details, and went with his vintage Slate ribbon, with a single grey stitching along the brim. Michael blocked the hat 5 1/4in high on a #52block at 59.5 size with 2.5in brim. Very classic proportions. With the natural felt and that old ribbon, the hat looks like its from another time.
This is what came from Michael, and I just got her in the post today. I'll see about some other photos soon.
Once again, a huge thanks goes to Michael for his excellent work, and another huge thank you to all the contributors to this thread.

I haven’t had the time to take any ‘proper’ pictures of my new Gannon Highwayman, but I couldn’t bear seeing this thread all the way down on page 6. Giving the Gannon folks some love. My new Steel Highwayman, a la HurricaneJack. Hope to get back with some real pics soon. Be well y’all.

My current and only, so far Gannon product.

Thanks, EricA Gannon classic fedora! Congrats.
That is what I am talking about - Gannon hat adventures. Great hat out doing what it was designed for. Congrats on the stunner.
Only Gannon, but darn sharp.
Sharp ribbon work. The felt sounds like it is a special hat. One of those hats that is a pleasure to put on and take off, again and again.
Oh, la, la a special New Hat Day coming. Can not wait to see.
I continue to wear my Gannons. In the past few weeks they have gotten the call quite a few times. Sharing the Gannon hat appreciation -
Cheers, Eric -
Another sweet looking Gannon! Here is my Gannon ready to ship. Sahara beaver, pounced thin, copper ribbon. I think Michael nailed the brim treatment giving it the "milaner" styling ala Leon Drexler. I think it is calling for a simple centre dent and just squished pinches to give it a casual air. This will be my shoulder season warm weather hat to be worn when it is not quite hot enough for straw.
That color combo really stands out. I may have to copy that one day.I figured 75 degrees was the perfect temperature for a navy Gannon

Yes, in the picture it looks good and very close to the original.Looks great, Robert. I’m waiting for your detailed review after you receive the hat. If it’s truly like the Milaner it opens all sorts of possibilities.
Ok, I was hoping these new shots would have come out even better than this but the sun, and the location I’m in are at odds. Still, they aren’t bad.

Sorry Brent, I missed this comment. I appreciate the kind words and have no idea why it’s marked as such. Maybe an old sweat? I was just noticing today that this one has my initials in it and my Highwayman doesn’t.Beautiful. Those colors really work well together. It’s interesting that my older Gannons were marked 100X like yours but my newer hats don’t have any quality designation.

Hmm, $350 minimum for a hat. Oh well, I didn't want a Gannon hat anyway.
I'd be foolish to debate you on this issue, so I won't. Having read through this thread, I have no doubt his prices are very reasonable for the level of quality of his hats; I just can't afford them.Several years ago I would have balked at the price, but it’s really a bargain compared to most other hatters and his quality could command a lot more.
