I hope your comment about showing off is in jest. I refrain from hat family pics for this reason. In off-line conversations, the past 2 years, I have been accused of showing off and as a result have deliberately changed what I post and what I say. Lots of opinions and many ways to live. I like me, my style and feel no need to change on account of others. I am am confident when I look back thru my posts that I have contributed.

The grey lid is a steel gray. The mid-ribbon has been my choice of ribbon dressing of late. The steel gray has a matching ribbon and binding. I thought it would provide a dressier look. The darker binding edge and ribbon treatments I have deliberately chosen those to be a step between city/country.

I can't get enough of your hat collection , Eric. I thank you for sharing them with us! I've never viewed any of your posts as " showing off" ...... just glad you take the time to post here.

I'd like to add my thanks to you, Eric, for your many posts featuring your meticulously photographed hat collection, and also for the detailed specifications you so generously share. I had no doubt that ConsiderMeMiles spoke only in jest. Your photos/specs have helped me through the process of ordering two Gannon hats so far, and your blue Gannon is likely to be the inspiration for my next order. It's especially interesting to see your vintage hats side by side with the work of some of our very fine present day craftsmen. Thanks again. I look forward to your continued posts.

I have to say, this has been bugging me ever since I read it yesterday. I know I'm just joining the chorus at this point, but I have never once viewed one of your posts and thought or felt you were "showing off" in any sort of narcissistic or self-aggrandizing manner. To the contrary, you are simply sharing your hats and their respective details with us, and isn't that a large part of what we do here? If you're showing off, so are the rest of us who post photos of our hats.

Eric -

in my opinion there could never be enough photos of your hat collection ... especially in this thread

I'd personally love to see a photo of all of your Gannons in one spot in your style pic

It maybe a regional thing , but here if someone says "You're showing off now ." That is meant was an extreme compliment . I didn't think a thing about it . I have almost said it several times . The person always says Thanks here when responding . Several if not all make me drool , and the Charcoal with the Frayed Bow is my absolute favor . I want to ask for more pictures of every one . Hat porn is great .

Those off-line conversations are crap, pure and simple. How are any of us going to learn anything if people with the experience and the hats don't share them?

I know I speak for more than myself when I say it is very much appreciated that you share the way you do, Eric. And to think you may have held back a little because of some thoughtless or spiteful comments from others is a loss for all of us.

I get inspiration and all kinds of information when you post, Eric. Don't hold back, brother, we need your insights and knowledge!
