I want to buy a fedora, and I guess the best bet I can see is the Stetson Pinnacle full beaver. Thing is, Miller's offers it with a snap brim or a "turndown brim." Any thoughts of the quality of that hat versus some of the others on the market? And I had been under the impression that all you had to do to create a turndown brim was to just turn down the rear of the brim. But apparently not. You have to choose.
One other thing: The pinnacle does not come with a teardrop crown, which looks pretty nice. Is it possible to create a teardrop crown?

If my memory serves me correctly, the Pinnacle is a fairly pricey hat. You might check with some of the custom hat makers here such as Art Fawcett or Major Moore. You are likely to be able to get a custom for about the same money as the Pinnacle, and then you can get any crown you want. And, IMO, you will have a better hat to boot.

Welcome to the lounge, by the way. You will like it here and find much hat knowledge and history.

The finest felt I have felt from a custom hatter now is Gary White's 2 ounce 100% beaver felt. After feeling it I ordered one. It is equilvlent to a 1940's Borsalino.:eusa_clap

I have three Pinnacles. They are a very nice 100% beaver fedora. It is no problem to shape a C Crown on these hats. What size and color are you looking for?
