I have the 1930 101b, the 1937 101b and the 1952 101z.

The 1937 is the best style and cut for me, although the zip on the 52's makes life alot easier when paying a call of nature on a cold day!!

As I have mentioned elsewhere, I have worn Lee jeans for a long time. They first came into the UK in around 1966/67 - as soon as I saw them, I bought them! What more could a 60's Mod wish for than jeans that fitted like that. Head and shoulders above Levi's 501s :D

Hi Majormajor,
Just discovered this thread and came across your post above (I know I'm 3 years out of date!) but if you were buying Lees in England, in '67, I have a few questions about details, supply, models etc. Its just for my own research. I find the written detail about Lees very lacking in the denim books etc as 501s are still stealing the show.
If its not of interest on here any more, please PM me and we can chat left hand twills and split selvedge!
Cheers

I've worn these Lees for almost two winters now, with 1 wash in the machine, 2 trips to the dry cleaners and a couple of hand washes. The colouration is awesome but the camera (in my hands) refuses to capture the brilliance of the blue; not like the eye does when you glimpse them in sunlight. I'm very pleased with how they've worn in and must say I prefer these to my Iron Hearts, which seem like they'll need a lot longer to start showing this kind of wear, if they ever do

Great jeans schitz, how long did you go before washing them?
I've been wearing mostly this winter a pair of edwin 39s and they are coming along nicely.
I was thinking of washing them come april.
Would you reccomend dry cleaning over a machine wash?

On the Lees the tag says to dry clean them only, and doing so doesn't seem to do any harm. However I think it's the first wash in the machine that really brings out the full potential - or not as the case may be. I only went to the dry cleaners because I'm lazy and from now on I'll probably stick to giving them the odd gentle hand wash in the bath as and when I need to. That way is cheaper and I guess loses less colour. So in short my answer is no I do not recommend dry cleaning

In your case, I advise you to wear them as much as possible for at least 6 months and then try a machine wash. If you feel they're dirty before that a hand wash in the bath with cool water won't do any damage
