I'd be willing to bet Johnson Leather from San Francisco can make you a fantastic custom leather peacoat, at a price to beat! Don't let their website scare you off, I've heard they make an outstanding product, at a price point around 600-700 USD I believe. Made to your custom measurements, you can pick almost any hide out there (kangaroo, deer, cow, horse, goat, etc.) and they can make about any style you'd want to! They can even make you an exact copy of another jacket that you have or like. A project I'd still like to do someday, is send them a cheap, crappy $20 Chinese-made faux-leather jacket (but with a very cool look) and have them make me a high quality goatskin copy of it
Hey Roma:
I know what you mean. I have a 4 oz black Suburban. It weighs as much as twice of the Peacoat and I imagine how much a 4 oz Peacoat would weigh. But I think I would be happy even with 4 oz, although 3 oz for longer jackets is a better idea.Hey Roma:
Really like that combination Horsehide but lighter weight. Seems almost the perfect weight for this type of Coat. I had an LW Russet Downtown in 4 oz and it was pretty heavy for Tennessee. Even after 4 years it would still stand up on it's on.
