Looking at the way the ribbon is done it is seems likely a Borsalino, probably what would have been called a Ludola or ludora. the modern version called Alessandria has a smaller brim and the felt is just not the same. Doesn't have the proportions and won't shape up like his hat. The Akubra Camp Draft has the proportions but the felt is too thick and stiff to shape the crown like his. I think it would be closer than the Alessandria if you could get the mid brown. A 50's Stetson Open Road could give you the look if you could find one in brown. Johnny's is also a size or maybe two too big for him. Probably doesn't mess his hair up as much as a proper fitting hat.

If you want this look you'll have to go vintage and you'll have to go big . Which means big money and waiting patiently for one to come along.

I've got two like it in different colors and wouldn't part with them for love of money.

What a shame. There's a man who charges a lot of money to wreck a perfectly good hat.

Nice hat. I currently have a beige cappelleria melegari on the auction block. theyl do one with a 7cm, I have the 7.5 brim, but they wont take the crown down to 11cm; currently resides at 12cm. all that skill and cant do something that seems simple to me. they are terrible at replies and questions, takes a while

"A while" has now been over a month for me.
I think that I'd really rather not bother with folks like that. :(
