Garrett, Super! I would be interested in seeing the paper label if possible once it arrives.Pre-WW1 J. Hückel´s Söhne Melone

Garrett, Yes yours is definitely an old one. I look forward to seeing the paper label. Here are my old ones that are probably from about the same time period as yours. Thanks, Steve. I'm trying to get the seller to ship the hat from Burgstädt to the U.S. They didn't offer international shipping but accepted my offer knowing I have an American address. Fingers crossed we can come to an arrangement. Its one of the oldest JHS stiff felts I've seen. Do you have a link to your oldest JHS stiff felt?
Garrett, I have seen some other Japanese JHS market hats but were too small. I have photos from the JHS exhibition in Japan.Early JHS velour
Size 56cm
Sold on a Japanese auction site for $27 (deal of the century)

J. Hückel´s Söhne Wien "Eureka - Plume", French Point 5 1/4, 117 grams, possibly early 1900s. This one is fantastic.

Garrett, Thank you for posting the photo. I wish I could see the liner and sweatband. At least they identified the hat company. The Museum Novojičínska doesn't display any brand information and I wasn't able to see under the hats they had on display. Unfortunately they don't seem to be interested in such things. In my opinion every hat in their collection (displayed and archived) should have a complete photo profile.
Garrett, The problem is the Museum Novojičínska is focused on JHS, A. Peschel and Brüder Böhm family history and not the hat and felt production. They have ~ 6000 hats in their collection but most are archived. The ones on display have no company information and there is no way to see the liners and sweatbands. As you know I am a big fan of JHS.Indeed, they should show the beautiful and intricate interiors JHS produced. The more examples from this firm I see the more I am inclined to think that they were the finest hat manufacturing firm in the world.
Garrett, Thanks! JHS was most famous for Soft Felt Velour Hats but they really made some great Stiff Felts. I am happy to hear that the seller is shipping the Stiff Felt to you. I am looking forward to its arrival.Steve, those are all jaw-dropping melones! And seem to be in fantastic condition as well. I was particularly impressed with the removable liner model. The good news is that the seller agreed to ship the hat to the states so it should be here sometime in June.
Garrett, It's really fantastic! Yes very difficult to photograph. The Velour color and finish are beautiful. I am sorry about the size but I glad it's in good hands.Circa 1930s JHS Durit "Crystall" Velour in the deepest shade of green I've seen.
As Steve can confirm it is very difficult to capture the depth of color on these old JHS velours. They seem to absorb all light sources.
Unfortunately a size 54cm so it will be for display only - considering it was $22 SHIPPED from Germany I think I came out a winner on this one.
