As a former JCP employee, I actually am impressed. I think I'll venture over to the old store one of these days...

Thank you. I'm glad that someone gets it!

I cannot abide over analyzing where it is not applicable. No comparative or juxtaposing comments were made, merely a statement that the thing was "top notch", and if we're talking about JCP (which we obviously are), these things can be said to be "top notch". Anyway, I'm ranting and just a bit peeved at all the hyper-critical uncalled for comments. Don't mean to take it out on the one person who understood my initial comment in the actual (and obvious) context in which it was made and given. Take care and have a great evening sir!
You make a simple observation good for what it is. Next thing you know people are defining what "top notch" means. I can say the local fireworks display at the ball park was top notch. Then someone wants to compare it to a Disney World or World Series fireworks show. One has nothing to do w/ the other. It was not a comparison. Just a impression of what (I) you observed. Its all good E-Hart.

My medium size jacket has 25" long arms. Good luck in your search.

Even with the death of American Living I an fairly impressed by Penney's new selection of suits and sports coats, as well as knitwear.

I was at a smaller Penney's today and found multiple plaid, windowpane, and other bold patterned sports coats. Most had a 1960s aesthetic going on.

I really like the suit/sports coat shown here. The silhouette is maybe the best thing about this jacket: pretty good looking dimensions and it fit me well. Labelled as "slim fit", it has a more vintage (shorter) length than most modern jackets, nicely shaped medium width peaked lapels, a ticket pocket, and dual vents. Nicely balanced 1930s aesthetic to my eye. Made by Stafford.

The matching trousers are still stuck on trendy. Low rise, flat front, extreme taper, and no cuffs.

This suit is on a serious clearance sale so I picked it up today, $43 for the entire thing with a coupon. It really does have a 30's look.

A word of warning that their spring line continues to carry on the "curse of skinny." Moving up a size doesn't always work, either; I recently tried to purchase one of their J. Ferrar suit vests to use as an odd vest, and found that while I had to tug the medium to button it (even with the sizer loosened to maximum), the large hung on me like an old barley sack (even with the sizer cinched as much as it would go).

I am miffed with JCP. A couple of years ago when I moved in my new house I bought American Living drapes, rods, the whole 9 yards from them. Recently I wanted to add some of the same stuff to my house but, not only did JCP discontinue this stuff which was really first class, they can't offer their source so I can go straight to the manufacturers. I'm miffed.
