The concept of zip in liner is great. Where it got messy is the material they used. I have the fleece zip out liner in my Vanson. The problem is that it's grabby. If they just use the same nylon quilted material for the zip our liner it would be just about perfect. Take the liner out during the warmer days, and zip it in for the cooler ones. The quilted is warm enough and has the nylon facing so it's not so grabby. I am all for zip in/out liners, in the right material. On my Walter Dyer scooter jacket it's like this. Very versatile. I think if you are going the custom Vanson route or if Schott are customizable, this will be the route to take, removable quilted lining...

This may end up being an embarrassing question, but it appears that the 613 line of jackets have snaps on the lapels but not on the collar itself like the 118, 618 (and other variants). Am I correct on this one?

Correct. 613 jackets don’t have snaps on the collar, plus the snaps they do have are plain. They also feature stars on the epaulets. 618/118 have snaps on the collar and the snaps themselves are branded with a cool bullet sort of design.

Would it be safe to say that the collar on the 613SH is stiff enough to not be flapping around too much at speed on a motorcycle? I was kind of leaning towards the sleeker no underarm football thing, but the no snap collar creates another thing to think about. Theres a side of me that thinks the no snap collar looks cooler.

I haven't heard any complaints about the collar flapping about when the lapels are snapped down. It isn't just the stiffness of the SH in particular. I think the shape and downward angle of the collar (shared across models) help ensure that it stays in place.

The collar does feel super solid. Not sure if it is the stiffness or the pattern or a combination of both but I can’t imagine it flapping around.

Reviving this thread after getting this gorgeous 618hh from @tweedydon (who got it from @Monitor).

As alluded to in both of their listings it's just a really fantastic rendition of the Schott horsehide. Has a serious thickness and is gorgeous but doesn't have that kind of vinyl/blinding sheen that most 618hh's have (this may be a downside for some but when I was trying on the new ones at the Schott store the horsehide was just a little too shiny for me to be able to pull the trigger).

As you can see in the detail pics it's a really gorgeous hide that's kind of a perfect balance of smooth with enough grain to keep it interesting, and just rich enough to differentiate it from the steerhide without having that intense sheen of some other 618hh's.

Jerri from Schott identified it as being from 1996 based on the tags, but I believe Monitor bought it new in store (and it has the tags) so it might just be new old stock, who knows. Works for me since the shorter but slightly less slim fitting cut suits me better than the current 618hh (which I have to size up to not feel restricted in).

As far as sizing goes I think it's pretty bang on. It's a 44, which is what I wear in a standard 618 and my Real McCoy's half-belt. My concern given how the current 618hh fits was this would be too small but that's certainly not the case, only real question is if I would prefer it to be slightly less roomy in the chest.

Which brings me to a slight aside: as perfecto's wear in over time and maybe start to hang/drape more distinctly, does the chest 'gap' between the zippers when worn unzipped get more pronounced?

I'm not expecting a Ramones-type fit which would require some sizing down/make the jacket difficult to zip. But I am a bit surprised in watching videos or seeing fit pics here of other perfectos that fit similarly to mine (which is to say, not overly slim and small) where the chest has a lot more space between the zips when unzipped, even though it looks about as tight on them as this does me when zipped up.

I'm 5'11 about 200lb and go to the gym so I've lost some weight but also have put on some muscle and certainly wouldn't describe my chest or body as being very slender. But maybe it's just more incentive to get some more gains and puff out my chest lol.

(apologies for the unzipped fly in one pic, clearly I was in a hurry to try it on)

This jacket is in amazing condition, but,it would never have worked for me.i always thought i would be a 44 with the perfecto, but it would drown me.Especially in the chest and back area,I've dropped from 200 to 182lbs,still broad due to having always worked out.but judging by this I would need a 42.my 44 vanson E definitely fits tighter.

If that’s your vanson, stop buying more cross zips- you’ve already found the perfect one

Here are some pix from my 618HH journey, posted in another thread here on the lounge, so you can see how this is fitting/breaking in on my body. Perhaps similar to your experience ? Mine was purchased brand from the Schott NYC Flagship Store in downtown Manhattan in November 2023 > https://www.thefedoralounge.com/thr...schott-the-613sh-perfecto.105564/post-3176106

I agree that the Vanson is gorgeous and surely satisfies the cross-zip itch, but we know that never stopped anyone from wanting more. I've been on the lookout for a C2 (though probably not as urgently anymore now) but have never tried any Vansons out in person so I am not sure how they fit in comparison to the Perfectos.

Perfectos are very odd, the pattern seems to be pretty distinct so the measurements don't seem to be as illustrative of the fit as other patterns in my expereince. The 613Sh I would take a 44 but the regular new 618hh models the 44 feels too restrictive to pull off.

Yes - that was my exact experience as well. I could have pulled off a 44 in the 613SH (...which is still one size up from "normal" in other garments...) but had to go to the 46 in the 618HH.....

Interesting considering the 613SH has 'slim' in the title, though I guess the sizing/model comparison guide makes a note of the 618hh fitting very slim.

I had to go up for the shoulder / chest width, and to be able to throw on a sweater, etc under it. The waist is still too big on it for my preference, but that's what the belt (...and potentially a good leatherworker/tailor...) is for....
