I picked this Elk Brand hat up as part of an auction lot and was thinking it might be a 1920s era hat from an American manufacturer.
The hat was out of Illinois and there was an Elk Brand from that State (also one out of Philadelphia, PA).
But a look behind the sweatband shows that it was manufactured by Tullio Bertasio, Alessandria, Italy.
I found an Elk Brand bowler out there with the same logo, but don’t know who manufactured it.
I did find ads in the USA (Georgia and Missouri) for Tullio Bertasio hats from 1921 and 1923.
There are a couple Tullio Bertasio hats on the Lounge.

Can any of you Italian Brand experts shed some more light on this brand?

Tullio Bertasio......
Can anyone here tell me a little bit about these hats? What kind of quality are they, their orgin, how do they match up to some of the other vintage hats that are about 40-50 years old? I don't want to compair them to a Borso of course, but I think you get my drift. Does anybody own 1, or know...
Tullio Bertasio pics...
It arrived today and these pix are right out of the box guys. This lid needs some work. :eusa_doh: First off, it's a size 6 7/8 and very snug so after I snapped some pix it went straight to the stretcher. This is probably the widest brim I own @ 2 5/8", the Crown is 5 1/2" open and the ribbon...
