Major Talent in these hats!

Wow, seeing this hat, and the shots (on another recent thread) of the campaign hat Mike made, and it's got me thinking. [Never a good thing.] :p

SHARPETOYS and RBH, what's the turnaround time on a Buckaroo hat?

4 to 6 weeks for all the bells and whistles, (bound edge's , pencil curls) and ordering hat body's, remember he has a full time job that keeps him on the road alot, and there is no deposit needed at this time.

After making that hat, I have started looking at photo's of my grandfather with a hat on, and will start working on mine to look like one of his. It sure has been great looking at some of the photo's of him, this afternoon at my mother's house.

I will call mine the "R.D.Ashmore" that was his name.

Nice work Mike, and great story RBH!!! I only met my maternal grandfather once, and my paternal grandfather never. He died while I was very young and living in a different part of the country but I do have one pic of him, in a hat of course.:D

WOW!

It arrived and it is fantastic! The color, ribbon and bash looks great.
Mike nailed the diamond bash, I love the look but was never able to do it myself. The felt is quite soft and rather thin, somewhat lightweight I would say. This hat feels lighter than some straws I have.
Thanks Mike for doing such a great job! You made my day and did yourself proud!
I will try and post some pictures of me wearing my new fedora tomorrow .

Thanks fellow Loungers for the kind remarks! This is truly a great fedora.
And I dont really want to take it off tonight. :)

Oh and Dean, repeat after me.. the ribbon.. is.. not... that... wide....:D

Here she is! I love it better this morning than when I first got it out of the box.

A few random photos. [the best I could do before everyone left the house this morning]

I will for sure make more photos , hopefully they will be better.
Back to the 'TVA' fedora, I love the diamond crease, but with the crown height this hat would take a center dent well and also a regular c-crown would look equally good. This hat has a great crown, after wearing my old thin ribbon panama I had to get used to the big crown again. This hat looks as if it has no taper, but with the diamond there is a little angle up at the very corner of the diamond crease.
I dont much favor a felt in warm weather but this hat shall stay out and I will be getting some wear out of it.
More info and photos to come!

Well, well, well,...so it's brown! Just goes to show you can't trust a digital camera, or a flourescent lightbulb for lighting. Man, I think that hat is so-o-o-o very nice in brown. Unlike the Indy style fedora with an almost black brown ribbon, this ribbon really is a great feature! You've got a lot to be proud of there, R. Interesting that the felt is so light. Can you rebash it easily, w/out steam?

Yes...you look like him brought into the present. Hat lower, belt lower, broad shoulders, firmer set to the jaw.

Dean, the brim is really soft, the crown not as soft. But yes I do think you could rebash it without steam. I love the diamond bash and for now dont want to mess with it. But I do know that a little steam should be enough to do a little rework. I tightened up the front pinch just a little with just working the felt with my fingers.

Thanks Fletch, that really means alot to me. :)

Also I know I cant name everyone but thanks for the support and very nice words. That is what puts this forum above all the rest.
