RBH - Thank you for linking to this thread. Your "TVA" is now probably one of my favourites (certainly my favourite look behind a couple of different Raiders bashes), and I am so glad to have found it. Majormoore's done a fantastic job. If I could afford another custom hat this year, I'd be giving him a call. As it is, I am going to try my best to emulate this bash in whatever fed I find myself getting next.

I hope that's OK - I don't want to do a disservice to you, mm, or your grandfathers.

Superb job. Just superb.
That would be fantastic Fats! Yep thats the hat!
As it has been so hot here most of my felts have been put away. I have wore my Federation a little to 'size' it up. When I get them out[it will be soon] I will try and snap a few more photos.
That was what I love about this hat, the diamond bash. I have a few center dents and way to many c-crowns .. this was a breath of fresh air!

Thanks Douglas, Dean and LEUII. We need to support our hatters when we can. That is what is great about THIS forum, hatters can talk and not put each other down.

I love it!

Beautiful colaboration! I have pics of my grandfathers hat...I'll dig around and see what I can find, other than my avatar.
I didn't see a mention of the type of hat you got. The base, the 50/50 or the beaver...and an inside shot of the crown while I'm making all these requests!
Again...Wonderful hat!!!
And kudos to a fellow SASS member!:eusa_clap

Here she is! I love it better this morning than when I first got it out of the box.

A few random photos. [the best I could do before everyone left the house this morning]

I like this one!

I will for sure make more photos , hopefully they will be better.
Back to the 'TVA' fedora, I love the diamond bash, but with the crown height this hat would take a center dent well and also a regular c-crown bash would look equally good. This hat has a great crown, after wearing my old thin ribbon panama I had to get used to the big crown again. This hat looks as if it has no taper, but with the diamond there is a little angle up at the very corner of the diamond bash.
I dont much favor a felt in warm weather but this hat shall stay out and I will be getting some wear out of it.
More info and photos to come!

Wow!! That is awesome RBH!!

So you reckon I'd be able to get that sort of look out of a Fed? I was considering ordering a Fed Reg, and I could try putting this bash into it.

I am sure you could. When I discussed this hat with Mike I told him I thought a 6'' crown would work best so within a 1\4 or so I believe this crown is right there with the Federation.
Mike did the bash on this one, but I think it would be easy to do, the back of the crown is what I think I would have had trouble with. Not getting it deep enough.
I look forward to seeing your take on this hat when and if you get you another Federation.
Good Luck!!!

Thanks RBH - right now I am deciding between a Fed or a Bushman, but I think I'd try this bash in either one. It might suit a Bushman really well, because they are often seen with more "boxy" bashes.

I agree. What a great hat and tribute to men and days gone by. Depending on the availability of felt and ribbon in these colors, Mike may want to make this his 1st Limited Edition Fedora.
RBH, you wear that very well and the diamond crease is as good as I've seen. How did Mike determine the size?
I wonder if there are any TVA pins in existence? That's how AF determined the edition size of the Rt. 66. When the pins are gone, the edition ends.
I have to say, I am hooked on the nostalgia of this entire project. What a great story.
I saw a photo at my Graet Aunt Libby's apartment in VA a couple of weeks ago. It was of her brother Kenneth who died of Lou Gherig's Disease while all three of his daughters were not yet in high school. In the photo, he is fly fishing in a mountain stream. He is wearing hip waders, a two-pocket long sleeved shirt, and a fedora. There's a creel on his hip and a creel strap across his chest. It's one of the finest fly fishing photos I've ever seen. I'm inspired to get a copy made and send it to Mike.
Gentlemen, thanks for a great thread. Huzza!

Hey John, how cool is that! All I can remember is my grand dad telling me if it had not been for the TVA back in the day he and his family would have starved. I have tried finding some service info on him but all I could come up with was he did not get paid enough to be published in the official book the TVA put out in the years '35-'39. [hope you understand what I mean]
I also have a cousin who retired from the Browns Ferry Plant and still lives in Athens.

Give Mike a holler somtime, he's great to talk hats with and will do his best to make you happy should you ever order one.
{this hat is 100% beaver}

RBH...I will give this some long hard thought. I think that would be a great tribute to my Grandfather. He lived an interesting life. I need to really dig for some photos.....
Cheers
