Rusty, NB13, you wear those straws well.
I wonder if the steep price reflects more the "Indy" bait than the quality of the hat? I mean, is this hat better than the similar Milans available from Miller, that are almost half the price?
Are you hearing, Rusty? I think you own examples of both?

it is real straw & it is several times better than a miller straw. i have both & the miller straw is so stiff i dnt think you could recrease it without completly dunkingit in water, even thourgh it is genuine milan straw, i believe it is of much lower quality straw that the peter brothers.

I think Bruce is right, but it comes down to what one likes. I mean, the PB and Miller milans are opposites in terms of stiffness/floppiness. If you like a stiff straw, Miller will be worth more to you. Although, by experience, I prefer Dobbs instead of Miller for the stiff milan straws. That's just me. [huh]

Also, with PB, remember that it's made to order. You could send a picture of a Miller you like and they could try to duplicate it. :D

You know, I like the hat but I can't stand Peters Brothers. I went all the way to Fort Worth personally to be measured for a custom hat. The representative bragged about all the celebrities that they make hats for. He took my measurements and I never heard another word from them. I called several times, they couldn't care less - didn't know; didn't care; didn't apologize. I cancelled my order and then I bought one off eBay and was very satisfied! I think it's important to share these experiences - sometimes these types of businesses need a reality check regarding their customer base. Caveat Emptor!

Really like the look of that hat in the promo images, but am put off by the information it doesn't hold its shape.... and is real straw. Polystraw is the only way to go for me from hereon. My Akubra Capricorns have completely converted me. No worries about the being ruined by rain. Of course, at the price of a Capricorn (as compared to a higher end real straw), even if one did get ruined it isn't the end of the world... I do love the shape of that Indy, though. Such a shame.... I'm determined not to buy any more real straws, though. I have four or five that haven't seen the light of day this year due to how wet the Summer has been here in London.
