I do know that one Duh!

It's from the song by Johnny Mercer - "You got to accentuate the positive, eliminate the negative, latch on to the affirmative, and don't mess with Mr. Inbetween." ( I thought you would know that one.) :D

What I wanted to correct you. Im not quoting that line at all. The version Im 'spinning off' is from is Ella Fitzgerald singing 'Ac-cent-tchu-ate the Positive' from the Harold Arlen Song Book.

I thought it was a bit crass of you to give a correction without asking where Im gettin my source from.

I have recently been researching pinup art, and there is a great site (Ed. note: PM author for {excellent} link) that showcases these fantastic artists. I find that the following are my favorites as they are vibrant and supple:

Billy De Vorss

Peter Driben

Gil Elvgren

When looking at that site, I noticed the pinup artists of today don't capture the coquettishness of their subjects like they were back in the day.

Hey! All we need now are Larry & Moe.

Yes. On all counts. :) I love the risque vintage pin ups so much more than anything out there now. They're all natural and much more wholesome!

Maybe this is a bit,......-----> :eek:fftopic: but here is what is purported to be the definitive Shemp site. I think the Stooges deserve their own thread here. A sticky even. lol

Personally, I like pinup art and have a small collection. But please be mindful of Fedora Lounge policy which prohibits posting images of, or linking to sites or pages that portray, nudity.

...there goes my 'contribution' to this fascinating topic!!! Oh well, if you get the chance check out the work of Art Frahm. I'm telling you, it is mysterious! Me thinks Maj. Danger will agree!!!

I really love vintage illustrations. So I thought this old thread would need some fresh air.

I just bought a book about Ernst Dryden who lived from 1887-1933. It is in german and has the title:
"Der Dandy als Designer / Ernst Dryden - Plakatkünstler und Modeschöpfer."

I don't know if there is a similar english edition. I really like the book because there are many sketches and not only the finished posters and ads. He was very talented and worked for Knize, Chanel, Bugatti...

Is there a book about the work of Laurence Fellows too? I would really need this!
