On a slightly happier note...
My wife worked at the National Air & Space Museum's new Udvar-Hazy Center. They have the Stratoliner that was completely restored, ditched and sunk, then restored again. It was flown to Dulles from Seattle then rolled into the museum to enjoy its retirement. Well, it's a stunning aircraft and my wife fell in love with it. When she left the museum, she got a chance to tour it inside and out. I am still jealous. She reports that the interior is even more impressive than the outside.
