Slowly taking shape! Love the extra zip pocket on the inside lapel.
Thanks, i was there to try it on but i forgot my phone, i think it has perfect fit on me, we just pinpoint eyelets and rivets position, and im relieved to see the collar fits me well not too roomy as the mockup fit on me.
Yes the extra pocket obviously i took inspiration from leathertog's (?) Repro by fw or himel, just made it more vertical and longer and contrast zippertape.

I just got few pics sent through wa to me. I didnt want to crease it too much while trying on since it is still being worked on, facing not yet installed so the edges of the lapel still not yet folded, main zip still hanging on one side. I wish to see the epaulette... well got to wait for the next fitting call. I totally love my own dyed natural core leather.

All three safe and sound! I’m quite pleased with the lot. The black Halfbelt could essentially pass for new, the Californian is just beyond beautiful, and the military jacket is deerskin and was a gift from the seller of the Cali. I’ll surely be posting more pics when it doesn’t feel like a microwave inside a brick oven in my damn house. I have never been more ready for summer to end.

Crumby, dark pics but this Cali is just so sweet. I love the cal craft too. More to come. These are two really delightful jackets. The steer on this Cali is just laughably good. This is my absolute threshold for short length jackets. I think it works though. 3” front drop is essential. More to come on these two.

I await. The Californian is the California Chrome Tanned. This Company was the Best because they used the Best leather. They were a huge maker and I'm quite sure they got what they wanted out of the finest West Coast Tanneries. It remains to be understood how significant this company was. I have two more of the Special editions and they are indeed special. An excellent example of 50s High Quality. That jacket has Been Worn and Worn. I wore it!

It just got notice it has shipped from Penelope Texas. I have a member here to blame or praise for this find! I thought there would be others at the sale, but I was alone. Probably the worst pictures, description, lack of communication deal I've ever done! yet I did it. I have never had ebay tell me someone was too busy to answer my questions!!!!! yet I did it. It has been shipped!

This is what I bought

I know it is going to be this, just not sure of the condition. Role the Dice again, but I have tasted Love with another Vertical Zip.

Monarch. The steam train keeps on rolling. Didn’t need it. Couldn’t live without it.

Is there a name for this style of jacket - ie. no zip or snap pockets...only open hand warmer pockets, fairly plain front and reverse? I have one with those features and I'm not sure if there is an accepted name for the style? I have seen the term "utility jacket" used, but not sure if that is the right name.

I would say long halfbelt/car coat/ surcoat. While the actual HB isn’t there on this jacket in particular…these fit like long halfbelts.

Thanks! Yes, I was also thinking if the fit was on the longer side, the term "car coat" might apply to this style.

The Pendleton coat arrived. It’s so mega, I love it. Definitely overcoat territory. My better half suggested we make a trip to Alaska upon seeing it…not a bad idea!

so freaking epic. what makes it even more so is that don't you live in NOLA??? LOL. Every time I think I'm nuts buying all these jackets living in Los Angeles, I come to ease thinking about you living in a built up swamp pretty much LOL. And I say that affectionately. I used to live on South Beach in Miami which is pretty much a landfill island.

Sorry this sight of this jacket and my expected jacket really opened my mind. My thoughts just spilled out here. I have to capture them when I can, write them down. I will copy this for the Vertical zip and Sears MC History threads.

One should Not Hesitate around Jackets such as these around people Such as Us. Now you are one of Us whatever you call us. I have to catch my breath.

Interlude-

Love seeing that Appalachian T&T label. They were one of Sears most consistent suppliers when making a variety of Jackets under the Sears Hercules, Fieldmaster, Oakbrook label. Probably Fraternity Prep too, but I have not examined/owned one.

At this point I'm assuming they made all the Vertical zip jackets; labeled as Hercules, Fieldmaster. I believe there is a variety pictured in the Vertical Zip Thread. I have a fuzzy lined Horsehide, Fieldmaster coming soon. I have one I call 51 Scarsdale, purchased there then. I'm convinced my 51 is an Appalachian T&T by the construction of the shoulders, the leather. I don't know what to call the construction, but it is different and noticeable.

I see the Fuzzy lined as late 50s even early 60s. I've owned several Fuzzy lined AT&t/Oakbrook/Fieldmaster jackets which are pictured in the Sears catalog. I will reference the pages.

I continue to guess on what other jackets they made for Sears in the Motorcycle or Sports jackets. I have theories, but lack evidence. I just had an Idea!

I better stop here. I've got to sort out this New Idea.

I’d have to say it’s an honor to be considered “one of us” along with Terry Mitchell whatever “us” is. I am pretty pleased to have been able to snag one of these jackets.
I pretty much fly under the radar and don’t post much ..just those occasions when my excitement spills out.
