Scored this vintage United Sportswear horsehide jacket yesterday off ebay - looks to be in rather good shape for the age. I snagged these photos directly from the sellers listing, forgive the clarity. Just hope it fits once it arrives...fingers crossed.

Nice buy! Interesting jacket, something different. I've owned a couple with this label, one had a somewhat similar back. I think this may be a label used buy another Bay Area maker. I don't think I found a listing for this company when I was researching Bay Area makers. All of those labeled jackets I seen had been very sturdy looking leathers. They appear made to work

Do you happen to have a guess as to whom the Bay Area maker was, behind the United Sportswear brand?

Ralphs-Pugh and Block I'm thinking are the best bet. Many jackets have a "made and styled in California " script on their store/company label. All the major catalogs had some rendition of this script, Sears Hercules, Montgomery Ward, Windward, Sportclad. I'm looking at a Montgomery Ward jacket from the 30s that has the made in California label that looks very much like a block label. I'm still trying to figure this out. Probably never know for certain.

I’m gonna need photos Terry! That way I can usurp the phrase when I launch my line. ;)

Here is one I owned. Label is pretty chewed up. Interesting jacket that was found on etsy by another member who tipped me off. Had some issues you will see in the album.

I'm not sure where the other jacket pics are. It was a standard hand warmer civilian A2. Heavy horsehide.

There’s a Beck Flying Togs in the mail that should be in next week...doubtful it will fit, but that seems to be par for the course with buying the old ones that I love.

Got this little guy in the mail a couple of days ago...as expected, too small for me. But, it is in decent shape for the age...or at least it will be after a quick little seam repair.
