How many new jackets do you have coming (and how many potential ones)?

Definitely too large in that area :) I wasn't expecting it to be that large as I've tried their CR size 40 and that was large...



I like the length and around the bottom, perfect. Sleeves are ok apart from the top side where they get too big for my taste and the back is just massive. The measurements were alright, I think p2p is actually bigger than it was on the website as it says 21.25" but looks over 22.

It would be interesting to know how Aero is measured. I have the impression that, especially with P2P, the actual dimensions are always larger than stated. If I look at the dimensions for a size 40 on the website, then almost all of them have a P2P around 22.25"- 22.5". On the other hand, on the Thurston website, almost all size 40s have a P2P of 23"

Going custom will in no way guarantee you a better fit than that. As I understand it Aero does not do custom sizing apart from sleeve and back lenght modifications to their standard patterns. You might do better with the Board racer pattern.

I agree with you on this one, the BR is a better fit for me. Or maybe a combination of these two :D

I have a feeling that might be the case, but not sure that applies to all of their products. Like the BR I had - that had the correct p2p measurement. I almost ordered another BR but then I realised the jacket was a bit too tight around the chest and again.

Thurston Bros pull on their measurements. Aero must be more of a flat measurement. So, IOW, Thurston Bros is sort of the max setting or maybe look at it as the measurement once you get a good break in, especially with CXL.

No, it was from Aero trainee's tab. I probably will end up going custom with them as I cannot seem to find a good fit from their stock.

Given it's trainee jacket, I wouldn't be surprised if the back was not executed properly. Something seems way off there. Jacket looks almost perfect from the front and the gussets should allow for a tighter fit if anything.

For a 38 seems too big at the back indeed. I also think the front is not as disproportionate. Unfortunately, it doesn't fit me so I have to return it.

I got the CR today and unfortunately, it's too big although looking at the measurements should have been fine.

If it fits me like this now, I don't even want to think how it will be later on when the leather relaxes.

I like the length and how it sits around the waist but those sleeves are too wide for my taste, and the back also.

@Riu The front looks quite nice for my personal taste (sleeves, chest, shoulders waist) but on the back is too much leather as others already said. If I was you I would go for a size 40 BR and you will be happy!

That's what probably I'm going to do as I don't think I will be happy with this pattern anyway, I like the overall fit on the Br better. Thank you for your help and advice with this!

After many months of deciding which jacket from FW i liked more and searching different japanese websites looking for something in my size, finally decided to pull the trigger and get one Centinela. Was also inspired by @Robbie79 with his Centinela :)

the actual photo of the jacket i will get. Ordered from Genco. Amazing cooperation from Watanabe

finally i will have my first FW leather jacket after seeing so many posts as well from @dudewuttheheck here and on instagram and realizing i have to own a FW jacket :)

Good to hear that you found one in your size and hopefully Watanabe-San was as helpful as he was when I ordered the Centinela. Looking forward to fit pics!

What makes that market prices for one vintage brand are higher than prices for another? Is it:

-Coverage in Rin Tanaka's books

I think I already know the answer, it's probably a combination of the above plus the size of a particular jacket.

But sometimes I wonder why people are willing to pay 1k+ on some Buco, even though the quality of the particular jacket isn't any better (maybe even worse) than a 250-300 jacket from the same era that doesn't carry a Buco label.

Buco are great patterns and I for one and believe many other collectors will pay more for a jacket with the jacket makers' label than for jackets with a retailer's label like Hercules or Windward. I do not put much stock into the Rin factor. Rarity is a large factor. Buco prices are 20% of what I seen leather togs sell. I have seen labels I never heard of sell for double Buco J-24 prices. In the last twenty years, I have purchased two jackets that wer new made to order and the Aero was an insurance replacement of a stolen jacket. I have paid more for some of my vintage jackets than I did for the two made to order jackets

I have thought about this very question. Here is my take:

It is lack of interest/knowledge/experience.

If you have interest their are few sources of information and experience can be expensive.

There is much knowledge here that is not in "The Books". We wrote "The Book" on Sears Motorcycle jacket here. We have uncovered other jackets and makers connection that were unknown. The threads here are full of vintage/used jackets. I'm always learning something new here.

The knowledge base is always growing and The Lounge is increasingly a resource for that knowledge. There is more knowledge/information here on Cafe Racers than anywhere else I know.

So do I understand you correctly that you say one vintage brand is more expensive than another, because it is better known to a wider audience?
