How many new jackets do you have coming (and how many potential ones)?

Based on what I’ve paid for the jackets in my meager vintage collection, I know it isn’t next to nothing. I wish it were. The Cals, except for one, were the most inexpensive. Then, somehow, the Windward. The rest I paid enough to try and avoid mentioning it to the wife. She always says, “for that price you can buy a new one”.

The one he had for sale definitely caught my interest as the price came down. Both are really great jackets.
What makes that market prices for one vintage brand are higher than prices for another? Is it:

-Quality
-Availability/Rarity
-Coverage in Rin Tanaka's books
-Heritage of the maker

I think I already know the answer, it's probably a combination of the above plus the size of a particular jacket.

But sometimes I wonder why people are willing to pay 1k+ on some Buco, even though the quality of the particular jacket isn't any better (maybe even worse) than a 250-300 jacket from the same era that doesn't carry a Buco label.

Thats what I think. Some combo of all you mentioned. And a genuine passion for the designs and patterns.

Personally, my perception of its rarity really does factor in. Bucos look beautiful, most just don’t seem rare enough for me to fork over the kind of money asked for them. Now, if I ever find a JH-1 or J82 in my size and awesome condition, I know I would fork over some cash.

Also, and at the risk of stating the obvious, I would never fork over a larger sum of money, any money really, for a vintage half-belt or most aviator jackets. No matter how rare or excellent the condition.

I got the CR today and unfortunately, it's too big although looking at the measurements should have been fine.

If it fits me like this now, I don't even want to think how it will be later on when the leather relaxes.

I like the length and how it sits around the waist but those sleeves are too wide for my taste, and the back also.

The pattern looks way off. Not just for you but in general. I don't think there shouldn't be that much material on the upper back. I think this jacket is faulty.

This is a 38 with a 21.25" p2p. My other jacket has 21" p2p but it fits nicely around the chest and back

Yes, too much leather in the back. If you spec the CR without the expansion gussets, the back will have a shape like that. With the gussets it´s just too much. The rest is fine, IMO, but I don´t think the back will ever relax enough to look ok.

Coolest set ever. Mint condition.

The pants fit, the jacket doesn't.

Best news is that I found the exact same jacket in size 42 (my size) and that it's now coming my way.

Wow, that is beautiful! Congrats on the find!

I think it will only look worse in time.

Who is the maker?

It's an Aero. It's a shame as I like how it looks from the front.

Is that a custom order?

No, it was from Aero trainee's tab. I probably will end up going custom with them as I cannot seem to find a good fit from their stock.

I feel it's too large on the upper chest/shoulder area. This is why I don't like the kidney panels on Aero CR, there's the blousey effect on the small of your back.

A nice jacket. Length, sleeves, hem look very good. Unfortunately, shoulders and P2P seem a bit too big to me. I suspect with the gussets the shoulders have to be more on the narrow side.
Which dimensions were given and which dimensions are they actually?

Definitely too large in that area :) I wasn't expecting it to be that large as I've tried their CR size 40 and that was large...

I like the length and around the bottom, perfect. Sleeves are ok apart from the top side where they get too big for my taste and the back is just massive. The measurements were alright, I think p2p is actually bigger than it was on the website as it says 21.25" but looks over 22.

Going custom will in no way guarantee you a better fit than that. As I understand it Aero does not do custom sizing apart from sleeve and back lenght modifications to their standard patterns. You might do better with the Board racer pattern.
