How many jackets do you have to sew to be an expert?

That thread over there is firing up again. Someone is feeling hurt. I'm staying out of it.

Yep, Diamond Dave really needs an emoticon for 'chips falling off shoulder'.

Glad I've never lined his pockets, and now I never will.

The mods. on VLJ are well aware of the issues of bashing of Aero and Eastman, but also of the robust counter posts of respondents. I started and ended the Aero thread because I thought it only courteous to Ken and Aero to do so.
I support our UK manufacturers as much as possible and have probably posted more reviews of Aero and Eastman jackets than most if not all members. The reason I binned the thread was simply because it was generating acrimony and I though my thread was being hijacked by people who just like to argue and rarely if ever share photos and reviews of their jackets. I also felt I had caused Ken embarassment.
The mods. hardly ever delete posts and let the forum self regulate unless someone uses it as a free blatant promotional site for commercial reasons. We have also had threats of legal action in the past because of accusations against members.
Far from there being disappointment about the Aero trial on VLJ, only dual members here and there even knew it had taken place.
VLJ can be a sleepy place sometimes but there are many members (not me) with a huge amount of knowledge including Ken who I wish would post more often.

John, speaking for myself, I appreciate you taking the time to post that, and I certainly wouldn't hold you responsible for what other people post (I'd be mortified if anyone else was held responsible for the things I post).
There's a lot of great information over there, and I'd love to hear more from some of the people behind the business (Ken, John, Gary, Stu). I guess they are all pretty busy guys.

I tried to register with VLJ, but for some reason my email address keeps popping up in the user name section and it won't let me in. Sorry to be a pest, but what's up with DD?

VLJ seems to be for about 3 members to slam Aero. Anyone else can forget it. You're 'not worthy' until you've made hundreds of posts.
I'll never go back.

You did come out with barrels blazin'....
No offence...Just sayin :)

No offense taken at all:) They deserved everything they got.
I certainly did. I can forgive John Lever for starting a thread that other vendors use to slam Ken and insult customers, but I am disappointed that John posts here that it's a 'robust discussion' (or some such nonsense), and then moderates with an anti-Aero bias over there. Makes me think that whatever the public discussion is, the real issues are private grudges of which we are not privy.

I figure there is a LOT of things the public isn't privvy to on these forums.
I think makers/ vendors should keep their gripes with each other behind closed doors. I figure they can all take lessons from Holly and JC about responses in open forum.

I'll only say this...you can easily tell those vendors with any resemblance of integrity successfully involved with forums. Those who don't go out of their way to 'unfairly' criticize other vendors wares in public or search for continuing accusations just for the sake of argument or drama. However, who will stand up for their product/business/reputation if unfairly criticized in a lengthy bashing intent on an on-going attack. John Chapman also is and remains such a maker/seller who has always retained that character.

I have been a VLJ member for quite some time now but rarely, if ever, post there as their points of interest for the most part fail to coincide with mine. Other then Butte and HD, I don't really know who is there. I think that one of the mods there (Siddartha) posts on one of the watch forums that I frequent.

I did follow both recent "Aero" threads, both now closed, and the data from the first one with all posts deleted. I had long heard of the vitriol by some members against Aero but just saw evidence in black and white for the first time. Frankly, I was shocked at what I perceived to be apparent bias and outright antipathy against Aero by more than one VLJ member. I wish the posts in the first Aero thread had not been deleted.

As I said, other than HD, Butte, and maybe a couple of other "regular" posters on the VLJ, I don't really know who they are. Does anyone know the identity of the "A-2 patches" guy from Las Vegas, who seemed particularly malicious? [huh] Please don't think I am attempting in any way to malign the VLJ, because I am not, as I recall taking offense when someone in the now deleted Aero thread referenced the Lounge as the "hat forum" in what I perceived to be a disrespectful manner.

That 'A-2 patches' guy is a real laugh- according to him painting patches and making caps is 'serving our country' on a par with being an actual fighter pilot. And these people accuse others of having an 'ego problem'
