Mayser "Supra", measures 58.5 cm possibly originally early 1950s or older. The sweatband was replaced a while ago and I am not sure about the ribbon bow. I couldn't find any paper label and the store comes up blank on searches. The dark blue felt is fantastic and I really like the form. It's actually a really great looking hat.

Stetson St. Regis:
View attachment 188228 View attachment 188231 View attachment 188229
Specs:
2" Brim (to the curl)
5-3/4" Crown (open)
1-3/4" Ribbon
4.7oz Weight
It does have some blue tones to it, though not as pronounced as what was shown in the seller's pics. Slightly disappointed by this but still am happy with my first St. Regis. It's easier to notice the blue tones when compared with a couple true grey homburgs in my collection:

I have an identical St. Regis... same bluish gray, same liner logo, etc

Neutral grey (not any strong brown, blue or green undertones that I can see), Crown 12.5cm at dent and brim 6.5cm at curl. American for sure ;)

I love this brim binding. It seems to be done opposite that usual. Wider on the upper part and thin on the down (visible part). Also the stiching is not visible from outside.

I have also a cavanagh homburg with the same binding and I have seen some borsalinos as well. I am wondering whether other brands used to make such brim curls and bindings and whether that could be reproduced today by modern hatters ?

Many thanks to Brent for this one!!

Good score, Panos. Imposing proprotions on this hat. Others did this kind of brim binding as well. I have a MacLachlan and a Panizza with the same type of binding. It is found more often on American made hats than on European ones.

he ribbon is dark olive green. When I saw the seller pics I thought it was discoloration. A very pliable crown, hand creases easily. The large brimmed homburg I found so far...1960.

Very nice, Fabio. Seems to me the brim style is reminiscent of earlier style hats. Black felt with green ribbon seems like a trachten style influence. It works.

Panos, Super find! Yes that is a great brim treatment. I am not aware of anyone doing it like that today but I could be wrong. I am sure some of the hat companies in Europe have the sewing machine attachments.

I have 2 Cavanagh Homburgs with the same half- blind stitching. One black and one gray. The black one has the stitching hidden on the inside curl so well you have to unroll the curl a bit to see it .

The ribbon is just sewn on the bottom of the brim then folded over the brim to hide those stitches. I know Mike Miller at NW Hats will do this for an extra charge. He stitches it all by hand. I imagine other hatters could do it, too , if they want to.

Thank you all for your comments and info!

In my understanding the ribbon stiching on one side first (up or down) and flip over to hide the stitches is relatively easy and can be reproduced. I am not so sure though about the blind stiching of the wider ribbon part on the opposite side. Not to mention this wonderful brim roll and curl which I guess special rolling machines used back in the days.

Thanks,
Panos

Chapéus Prada was founded in 1907 in Limeira, a little town in São Paulo, Brazil by Agostino Prada an italian immigrant. The company would become one of the most important hat factories in the country and was very important for the economy of Limeira. Agostino Prada died in 1975 but the the company outlived him till 1999 when was bought by a group of investors and chagend its name to Pralana.

The Prada Building still exists and today is the City Hall of Limeira.
