I never got around to posting this 40's BIG Stetson......big size (7 3/4!) big proportions (2 1/2 brim, 6 inch open crown, 5" as creased, IN FRONT!!!!!!!)
I would say it fits just a litte under 7 3/4...sweat is taped joint but has no Stetson markings....perhaps an old, quite old, replacement....comes in at 2"....liner is perfect save some loss of gold in the logo........the 1 3/4 ribbon as well as the binding is brown with a reddish tint.....definitly stands out!;) I have a couple of pictures with my mid 50's version (which I need to post sometime) so you can see the differances in the ribbon color and proportions..........The felt is well...PERFECT.......and has a Great hand! Well.......it has not really ever fit me well.....(was sold as a 7 1/2, when the heck do us big heads EVER get a hat that is too big!!:eek::eek::eek::eek:) so I am about ready to move it along to the next caretaker.......:rolleyes:;)
Best,
M;)

Looks fantastic, Mark. Just the way a homburg should be. I'm sure its new caretaker will appreciate it.

Some wonderful Homburgs have been shown and worn by fellow Loungers who are not sure if the Homburg style is right for them. It obviously is. Wear it, own it, and flaunt it brothers.
Let's keep the Homburg Nation going. This wonderful Borsalino was originally meant for my orthodox brethren. I steamed it in order to curl the brim some more and crease the top. I could have gone with a pinch, but decided not to. Maybe next time. That's the beauty of a Homburg.

Lookin' great, Steve. I'm getting closer to a Homburg myself!

L. B. Hats "Prima Original", Wool, possibly late 1930s early 1940s. The paper label is missing and there are no company marks. The hat came from a Czech source so I am fairly certain the maker was from Czechoslovakia regardless of the English names. The Wool Felt easily dry creases and has a very nice finish. The Crown is just over 6 inches Open but not sure that comes across in the photos. I really enjoy finding these old European Wool Soft and Stiff Felt Hats. I think this one is fantastic.

I'm really intrigued with these vintage, high quality wool felt hats. Just fantastic.

One of my favourite Homburgs. I just love the way how a hat can be made in Manchester back in the 40s/50s, sold for the Finnish market, be bought second hand in Holland, then end up with me in Denmark, a Yorkshireman from the other side of the Pennines of that Battersby Homburg [emoji4]

No wonder it’s a favorite! The hat has such a nice shape. The brim curl, crown, all of it. Sometimes it’s hard to say why one is a favorite, but the best all come together and are more than the sum of their parts. This homburg just has that certain something...the French should come up with an expression for that. ;)
