A few weeks ago, I made a New Years resolution to buy fewer jackets this year. Yeah, right!

Allow me to introduce my next jacket . . . . the Himel Frobisher (I'm in love):

I think it's a beautiful jacket! And yet I think it looks a bit, whispering, "boring", to my eyes. I'm sorry for being so bland. Don't get me wrong, it's nice. To me it's just missing the "wow-effect" that some of Himel's jackets have on me.
But it's a great, simple jacket no doubt, just not that special.
It reminds me of the RMC and BK civilian models and doesn't scream Himel. But maybe this is what makes it cool again.
Please don't hate me!

No hate buddy. I completely agree that it is a simple, conservative design. Thats exactly what I love about it. Funny you mention the RMC civilian designs -- I love those jackets for the same reason. Your J106 is infinitely more dynamic and interesting. That said, while I appreciate J106s on other people, they are not for me.

Same here, just the other way round. I love those simple models on other people! However, I find my BK very boring on me, especially in the russet. I think it's a beautiful jacket and color, just not for me, I guess.
But to clarify, those jackets look incredible on a lot of people!
And RMC civilians of yours are some of my favorites of other people's jackets!

Beautiful jacket, I like the collar too but am I alone in thinking the sleeves are huge ?

Not quite sure what you're implying here Vinny.
Himel's designs have been knocked off in the past by other makers, and admitted to.
SJC has been working on his Grizzly since at least Feb2, 2015. SJC did NOT copy Himel Bros.
It IS quite a coincidence that Himel's new Grizzly looks the same as Simon's, but did Himel "copy" Simon. I don't imagine that to be Dave's policy.
I think this one can be chocked up to zeitgeist. Although Quite the coincidence. :)

The Grizzly is a classic design and there's enough variation in the two for me to think, like Handymike, that this is just one of those things were you get a couple of variations emerging at the same time. It does happen.

I've seen photos of many a Grizzly but never anything as radical as this. Shawl collar with hair panels ending at the top of the pockets - they are strikingly similar.

Ok- on the Forbisher... The collar looks too large to me now. I also wish the back vent/ slit went all the way from the point of the yoke to the belt...not that I know better than Dave. ;)
I'll bet they could be tweaked on a custom order.

You're right on that cross-zip, WOW!

I don’t know if it’s due to the lighting, but the leather looks very plasticky.
I also like the second one. The back seams are wonderfully aligned with the sleeve seams. Dig it!
The Frobisher is a little bit too long on this dude for my taste.

I don't think this is a conscience, because the Grizzly jacket made by SJC isn't a common one. It is quite likely Dave "inspired" by SJC IMO.

Yeah, that collar is huge. I like the leather, but I'm just not sold on Himel's after I saw a couple in person at Self Edge and had my son try one on. It was a really unimpressive piece, and the fit was awful. Most likely an anomaly, I've seen some great pics here...
