Please say you'll post a picture of you wearing your Bernie Dexter dungarees! I've thought about purchasing a pair of them, but would like to see how they look on "normal" people first, if you know what I mean. They do look quite cute on the site.

If I can find the darn battery charger for my camera, I sure will!

Just remembered about this pair of jeans I have from Stop Staring:
http://www.getgoretro.com/StopStaring/Denim_Cherry_Jeans.htm

The fit is absolutely fantastic, but that silly cherry patch doesn't make them very versatile.

It might be easily removed with a seam ripper, but then you'd still have the red topstitching. Just wear them any
way you like, but with red shoes or fingernails.

I watched one of my favorite flics, A Stolen Life, yesterday. Kate (Bette Davis) wears the most lovely trouser outfits. Unfortunately I can't find any good stills. It's 1946 and Kate is the "outdoorsey type of girl", she likes sailing and hiking around on cliffs.

Hey, I had those! I wore them at my last job until they were ragged. Lol! They were great for RTW high waist pants. If I remember correctly they did have a bit of stretch in them which was my only complaint. I've loved almost everything I bought from Newport News and they have great sales and coupons if you get on their mailing list.

Oh wow now I am definitely getting them :) I think if I buy them slightly large the stretch won't feel so... stretchy?

Can you comment on the sizing? Should someone buy a size larger as LittleMissToniJo suggests, or will they fit true to size without being too tight?

I am seriously considering these, but I've never bought catalog jeans (or pants really) before.

You know, I honestly don't remember the sizing. I think they might have run a little small. I like them- they don't look totally vintage but are good for retro looks- I found them great for work because they had a vintage vibe but still looked modern.
I have bought from them before and returned/exchanged things, but I don't remember if I had to pay return shipping. Some of their things run small and some don't- it was kind of all over the place. I think I ordered these true to size and they fit, but a bit snuggly.

Thank you. That is actually very helpful, as it looks like I am between sizes (so I will order the larger one). I actually need a new pair of jeans, and the price is very nice.

I think they would look lovely with some added "bling" (like some nice metal buttons perhaps...).

I was thinking this, too! Along the pockets? For $39 I wouldn't care so much if I ruined them! ;-)

I have been wanting to get myself a pair of freddies for ages now, but I am scared of ordering the wrong size.
This thread has only confused me more, I think :)
I am going to order 2 pairs. Classic relaxed (I think) and the side button style.
I measured myself, and at the moment I am a 28/38.
what size should I order? Should I go the 28/38 or 30/40 (which sounds way too big to me)
eek help!
p.s are there any Aussie buyers here? How long did it take for them to arrive? I need them for a photoshoot in a weeks time!
thanks in Advance

Great minds think alike!!! We should post pictures when we get them!

Although, I am rethinking the metal buttons, I might use plastic, perhaps dark blue or gray. I fly a lot, and I don't want to set off the metal detector all the time and then have to strip in public. Haha. Looking at them, I might place some around the pockets and then down the darts, perhaps two different sizes of buttons, or maybe the same size?

I'm ordering these tonight, after I re-do my measurements (just to be on the safe side).

Am really tempted to try and find some high waisted pants/jeans, but considering my pear shaped, short legged 5'2" figure I'm doubting whether they will actually flatter me or not. I'd rather not look like the front side of Myers (or if you're not from Australia envision frontage of large dept store.) High waisted skirts look great on me but the skirts skim over the broadest part of me rather than accentuate it.

40's, I have the same problem. Wide legged trousers = wide silhouette on me. I'm 5'8" but a long torso and short legs. Ugh. So much for getting my mother's super long legs. :( Like you, too, high-wasted skirts or capris look pretty good and give the illusion that my legs are longer (and my butt's not so wide). I've resigned myself to admiring these trousers in others....

Ladies - I would like a pair of "authentic" or close high wasted pants for Reading in June, but don't want to order from UK. Can anyone suggest a us vendor with the best looking plus sized high wasted pants?

Thanks! Mary

Oh, I say go for it! I'm 5' 3", with short legs and wide hips. For years I avoided trousers as I was sure you had to be svelte and 5' 11" to look good in them. I love my wool 1940s sailor pants best of all, they are actually quite slimming as they lace at the back and have that girdle-like button panel at the front. The trick is to find a pair of pants that hugs your waist and hips and then flairs into a wide/straight leg below.

I'm just throwing this out there for any of you ladies with an H&M nearby! H&M is currently selling the cutest pair of high-waisted double button wide leg jeans in for $34.95. I love mine and they are surprisingly comfy :)

I finished making the Decades of style empire trousers, I made them in denim and they've come out surprisingly well. I did lower the waist somewhat as I didn't want under arm warmers! As a hefty gal I worried about how they'd look but they're pretty nice. Wore them with a 40s blouse I made.
