This Jacket caught my eye Just now, and thought I would pass this info along to you fellas.

Low Starting bid of $250, wondering if any of you are gonna bite on this, cuz I Just bid...wanna know if Im doomed to fail or not. Its definetly what appears to be an Aero Mixed batch, I have basically posted the same looking Aero mixed batch B-3 Of mine in an earlier thread, So let me know if youre bidding, so I dont get my hopes up on this one if you know what I mean!

I cant tell the size, the tag doesnt show it in the photos but It looks between 40-44 or more possibly.

I dont have the Cash to compete, I know theres a chance it could fetch a large sum, you can see where the squadron patch on the chest was if you look closely. I need some oppinions and your estimates of its value so I have a better idea.

Looks like a decent investment for someone. (sorry for not posting pics, or the Link, Just Look for it up on Ebay, you will see the one I mean)

The Seller informed me the size on the tag appeared to be a 38. Too small for me, but It would display very proudly still.

This Aero contract was awarded in 1941 and is the B-3 is typical pre-War construction. There are issues with it, but it would still make an excellent display jacket.

Ive already been outbid, Augh, cant win em all I guess eh...wasnt you was it Andrew!!! (LoL) :p

Over 7 Decades old, I would say for its age, there OUGHT to be a few issues by now.

Not a problem for me, Im handy with a needle and thread, plus those patches look professional, and that patch on the back even looks old enough to be from the war, nicely worn and has a deep patina.

If only the person with the winning bid posts after photos of a restoration job!

No I have not bid on this and wont be bidding. The problem with many of these old B-3s is that they are liable to rip if worn, which has already happened to this one! From time to wearable original B-3s do come on the market, but they tend to command high prices.

It was most likely ripped by a person who was too big for the jacket, this thing would maybe have fit me when I was 16. And its a clean Rip right on the seam, big deaalll..you wouldnt even see it when Im done sewing. Looks like it was falling apart Years before its time, some batches of hide Will just be paper thin sometimes..you know, I had one that was right off the shelf and the holes just kept coming.

Why does every original Jacket have to be wearable with you guys! Tag that one on to my list of aspects to hold up to an original Jacket when I am raking in my millions.

Sheepskin is brittle, and eventually crumbles away. Lucky this thing is still on the face of the earth and not mulching.

forgetting how rare a mixed batch is alone, AND it made it through the entire war and THEN some, Makes a shooting star lose its wonderment if you ask me...THIS thing is a survivor and I salute it!

(and I was being sarcastic when I asked if it was you who did the bidding eh!)

It is not always easy to detect sarcasm on this forum. Never mind, no offence taken. Some people collect these jackets for display, others to wear with care and some display and wear original jackets. I have three original B-3s which are robust and can be worn, but I would not wear an original B-3 regularly, unlike Irvins, which tend to have stronger skins than B-3s.

Yeah, Different Breed of Sheep I guess, Good British Stock, I also think the durability comes from the Tanning method a little too.
