I would love, love, love to be anywhere near a hat shop of that kind. It looks so cool inside, like a true throwback. Alas, all my hat shopping is done in my living room LOL

Times have changed. When I lived in NYC, a few short years ago, JJ considered "Stetsons" too low in quality to even stock.

"Patient and professional" certainly describes the fellow in the video. Watching it again just now, I noticed she never lets him finish a thought until almost the very end. Like most American vids of this sort, there's no time or inclination for anything like a real look at the hats, never mind any mention of other makers. It's not so much about "How to Pick a Stetson Hat" as it is about "How do I look? How do I look?" An irritating, slightly hysterical, and LCD approach is the hallmark of modern American television.

I can't argue against the propostiton that CBS and most media suck.

That store got me hooked on hats a long time ago when I bought my first Borsalino.

Can they really still stock a lot of open crown hats?

I don't really understand the random railing on Americans , did you expect the CBS news correspondent for a Sunday morning show to be a hat expert? It was simply a plug for the store and for Stetson, any positive hat stories to help the market is good

So a plug for a hat comapny is news?

Railing against Americans? Being one myself, I reserve all rights to rail on any American that deserves it, and anyone else for that matter. CBS has no grounds to compalin, being in the railing business itself.

I try to encourage Stetson myself, to the point of having bought several. CBS? No time for them.

Random railing on Americans? Really? I trust you mean my comments on the "CBS news correspondent" (infotainer - hard to tell them apart) doing the "plug." It's getting increasingly difficult to tell the news, or even the human interest stories, from the ads. I wish Colin and the folks at JJ's all the luck in the world, the hat industry, too, but I would've really liked to have heard what the man had to say rather than have to decide which hat looked best on her. We're in worse shape than I thought when you can't disparage this kind of schlock.

Morning "news" shows are not news. In fact, very little news is news. I wouldn't tune into CBS Sunday morning expecting anything but brain bubblegum. I thought it was a nice spot, but only superficially informative. However, it was a feature, not a documentary.
