Hat Suggestion

Hey all,

So I'm getting married in November and have instructed my groomsmen to all buy fedoras with their tux rentals. I own a couple fedoras now, and am looking to buy another to go well with my tux.

This is a general idea of the tuxedo I will be wearing:

Black Jacket, 1 button, Notched Lapel
White Vest
White Long Tie

(This is not the exact one, but I found this image as an example):

These are the hats I've been looking at:

Generally - What sort of color scheme would work best w/ the black jacket, white vest/tie combination?

It would be important to note the groomsmen are all wearing black jackets w/ red vests/ties, and the following type of hat. (All black hats, best man possibly w/ a red band)

Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Homburg. You'll either end up stealing the bride, a bridesmaid, a coyote, or simply look too cool for school.

Seriously; Homburg. And, that's all I have to say about that. :)

Black Homburg certainly sounds like the winner.

I thought the zoot hats were probably going to be a little wide. And also especially since it's not a zoot suit either.

Any elaborations on the material/specifics? I'm finding a few here and there - differences in material, shades, feather/no feather. Some small variations in brim, etc.

And any references to purchasing websites? - other than my own extreme googling skills...

I'd go for fur felt. I'd stay away from wool, it's just not the same feeling.
As for places to buy, I believe it all depends on how much you want to spend.
I'd say (repeat it actually) stay away from the feathers.

yeah, i think if i got one with a feather i'd just take it out. Hopefully it's not sewn/glued on or something cheap.

I'm a bit confused ...

You wear the hat to the church. Since you arrive early, almost nobody sees you.
You wear the hat from the church to the limo - 30 seconds ???
You wear the hat from the limo to the reception - 15 seconds ???
You wear the hat from the reception to your car, escaping to your bridal suite
(preferably no witnesses).

So what is the big deal?

PITCHERS, man, for the wedding pitchers...for the photographer's album

besides, can you really fault someone on THIS board for wanting to wear a hat?

Just a thought

With white tie, is a Homburg appropriate regardless of color? I think, perhaps, a top hat is the way to go with the white tie, especially for a groom. Best, Sam

 Are you a regular hat wearer? Like a serious regular hat wearer? I put on a lid to take out the trash, dude! I don't leave home without a hat, no matter how little it will be worn.

Plus, the wedding could be outside, or not a church wedding. All new possibilities come into play then.

Anyway, I support the black homburg choice. http://www.southstreethats.com/ set me up with a really nice Lagomarsino.
