I thought a list of hat stores and hatters nationwide (world wide) could be a handy thing.
I will start it out.

That's a good service. There is also:

Village Hat Shop, San Diego (www.villagehatshop.com)
Hats.com (www.hats.com)
Delmonico Hatters (www.delmonicohatter.com)

An actual store in the Washington, D.C. area is Hats by Haber in Silver Spring, MD. They are also on the Web at www.hatalog.com

There is also Worth and Worth in New York, and Peters Brothers in Texas. I have bought from most of these places.

Just some general info, for anyone who may care. I just called Oscar over at South Street Hats to get some info on his servicing. His prices for repairs are:

Cotton Ribbon: $7
Silk Ribbon: $10
Pastel Colored Ribbon: $13

New Liners: $10

He says he can't put in new sweatbands, since he doesn't have the equipment for it. But everything else he can do. I don't know if I could mail a hat to him for servicing; the phone line dropped for some reason before I could ask.

Cheers,

The Hat Store in Nevada City, CA is nice as well

And since it was mentioned that there were no listings for hat shops in Phoenix, I thought I should point out Az-Tex Hat Company.

Take Boston off that list

The Hat List is updated. You can find it here. We are now up to forty-six locations.

A rash of suggestions in early October and they are all welcome. I do have a feeling that I’ll need to start up a separate list for women’s hats as I am finding that there are many more women’s stores than men’s when I troll the yellow pages.

The Hall of Shame of the top 20 Metro Areas without a good hat shop continues to hold Boston, Atlanta, Phoenix, Minneapolis - St Paul, and Tampa – St Pete.

Please remember to supply at least the store name, address (with zip), and phone. I am also including Custom Hat makers who maintain a shop, supply a physical address, and have either posted hours or open by appointment.

It makes me happy to have this be my first post...

Take Boston off that list My Good Sir.
Here are three in Boston:

SALMAGUNDI is a hat store located in Boston's Jamaica Plain neighborhood.

SALMAGUNDI
765 Centre Street
(Jamaica Plain) Boston, MA 02130
617-522-5047
http://www.salmagundiboston.com

Hats available for ladies and gents.. Meets the price range criteria etc, Specilizes in Traditional and Modern at the same time.. re-shaping, re-banding, and custom work available on site.

There is also another in Boston,
Galvinized Headwear located in Boston's South End neighborhood.
Marie Galvin is a custom hat maker and sells only ladies hats, and only sells her own creations. She takes appointments as well.

Galvinized Headwear
450 Harrison Ave #67
(South End) Boston, MA 02115
617-426-4885
http://www.galvinizedhats.com/

Lastly there is a hat shop downtown Boston named Toppers
Toppers has more women's than men's but offers an especially large "church hats" selection for ladies. For gentlemen some more traditional hats can be found.

Toppers
151 Tremont Street
Boston, MA 02111
617-859-1430

Cheers!;)

I bought my Akubras from these guys in Australia.
Orders are made easy on the website or by email. All shipments arrived right on time where ever I had my hats sent to. Very nice team to deal with.

Hope this helps a little the Akubra boys around :)

My Google-fu is weak this morning. All my searches for Pittsburgh hat retailers have been fruitless. Numbers are either wrong or no answer. I checked out Headgear downtown, but they don't give a very customer-friendly vibe. More of a "urban" selection, and not much opportunity for browsing, and don't even think about trying anything on.

So anything else in the Pittsburgh-Morgantown area?

They hold strange hours: only open on Saturdays from 9am-5pm, or by appointment.

I do not believe they are affiliated with the Lounge or Classic Style. I'm emailing them now to direct their attention to this website. ;)

*edit* Judy McClure from Classic Hats for Men responded promptly and advised the business used to purchase Classic Style magazine when it was published. She advised she enjoys the Lounge, but has not had the opportunity to visit within the last 3 years.

Hi everyone.

Does anyone know of any hat stores near the Boise, Idaho area? I'm getting married shortly, and I intend on wearing a fedora during my reception. I'd like to try on a couple before I purchase one on-line.

My future wife-to-be bought me a brown Bailey of Hollywood Madison fedora, and I love it! Only problem is, my suit is a charcoal grey.

I'd appreciate any suggestions. Thank you.

Hi

While I understand that Idaho is a BIG state, they are the home of Jaxonbilt hats. According to their website, they make everything. Worth a try. Wow, 247 miles there, 247 miles back. But heck, it IS in state...

http://www.jaxonbilthats.com/about.html

Hope this helps, good luck on the wedding, (generally they are more of a pain than being married is).
