Hat questions and a possible challenge...

If i have my way, Todd will be the Joker to my Harley Quinn this Halloween. i plan to make his costume, but i need a hat to go with it. With hopes of having it finished in time, i plan on making him a purple zoot suit. i need the hat to match the suit with a reasonable price tag. Any takers?

This was me for halloween 20 years ago and my recent Avatar, obviously.

I just had to luck out on the elements of the outfit, hat included. Best bet is some wool job probably. Sorry, no ideas for where to find something like that now but couldn't resist posting this pic.

As far as boleros

They're too squared off. i'm looking for something more rounded, similar to a fedora with the wider brim; like the picture i posted above.

Yeah, I don't know the proper name for that hat style I wore when I was the Joker, but some call them Boleros, some call them Gamblers.

The hat I happened to find was not a match for what Nicholson wore but I liked mine better. I needed it too since that's where I piled up my big ol' ponytail of hair I used to have back then. Just lucked into it at a costume shop where you could buy individual items. Cheapie novelty hat. Got the gloves at another place and the tux jacket same way.

Dyed a pair of white pants and painted the purple-with-spats-look with artist's acrylics on a pair of light grey dance shoes.

Big emphasis on the makeup, a swagger stick, cig. holder, squirting flower, joy buzzer and a gun that went "Bang!" (y'know with the flag that unfurls), and I was set!

Oh, and I was single then and Halloween was on Thursday that year so I went out Thurs, Fri, and Sat to bars and contests. The thing I didn't predict was the reaction I'd get from the fairer sex. WOW. Made me consider dressing like that all the time....

You're probably right... i just know i met a couple of real swell guys at the get together last time who make hats and i was hoping one of them would see this damsel in distress and rush to help.

i'm watching the movie right now and his hat looks like just a purple fedora with a teardrop bash with a light pinch in the front. It sort of resembles a pork pie on top but with pinches in the front. I'll post some picks.
