n794295474_4799067_4420.jpg

"Stood in firelight, sweltering. Bloodstain on chest like map of violent new continent. Felt cleansed. Felt dark planet turn under my feet and knew what cats know that makes them scream like babies in night. Looked at sky through smoke heavy with human fat and God was not there. The cold, suffocating dark goes on forever and we are alone. Live our lives, lacking anything better to do. Devise reason later. Born from oblivion; bear children, hell-bound as ourselves, go into oblivion. There is nothing else. Existence is random. Has no pattern save what we imagine after staring at it for too long. No meaning save what we choose to impose. This rudderless world is not shaped by vague metaphysical forces. It is not God who kills the children. Not fate that butchers them or destiny that feeds them to the dogs. It’s us. Only us. Streets stank of fire. The void breathed hard on my heart, turning it's illusions to ice, shattering them. Was reborn then, free to scrawl own design on this morally blank world. Was Rorschach. Does that answer your questions, Doctor?"

Too bad Batman never had lines like that.

Rorschach rules.

Well, hello Miss Grable! Gotta love perfectly straight stocking seams. ;)

Why thank you, you know it took me forever and a year to find these...it's pretty bad when you walk into a specialty lingerie store and they have no idea what backseams are!!

My 'costume' was more comfy than anything else but hey, I still won 3rd place in the building's contest at work with it. Here's an unflattering picture of the 50's Housewife:

I was about to say, what if that were regular attire (at least on my part)? :p

We had ladies in pajamas at my work, but yours probably took more effort than their everyday business casual look.

Have horrible dreams, darlings!

I was going for Vampira (original horror hostess & vampire girl in Plan 9 from Outer Space), but couldn't get the eyebrows figured out with the limited resources I had...so this will have to do...

Left to Right: killer cousin (not sure what he was supposed to be), The Joker (or a reasonable facsimile), Batman (dad), Cat (mom), Vampira (moi), demon-man-thingy (uncle), cousin w/ an afro (again, not sure what this was supposed to be), Pirate/Wench (cousin), Princess (cousin), Dragon Tales (cousin, held by my aunt who at one time was dressed like a witch), sassy inmate (cousin).

And I just had to throw this one in too, because 1) I think it's cool, and 2) I worked hard on it...hehe

My parents had a Halloween party which actually doubled as a surprise birthday party for the sassy inmate...it was quite fun!

Next year I think I will be Jem (from Jem and the Holograms), a Care Bear, or Glen/Glenda (from the Ed Wood movie of the same name).

I went as the Black Dahlia (I freely admit that I poached the idea from one of you ladies..), and only spent $4 on my huge flower. For a last minute costume, it turned out pretty gruesome, until I started dancing and all of my fake autopsy scars started to peel off and my makeup bruises rubbed off on other people. Oh well....

Well here was my 40's Cabbie costume. Since I was just handing out candy to the kiddos this year it was fun, and I like my vintage cabbie hat so much I keep wanting to wear it all the time. The plaid jacket it 40's Pendleton and the shirt is a J. Crew camp/work shirt, and the pants are a pair of Bill's.

These were the costumes we did for the Sci/Fi Fantasy convention right before Halloween. We won first place in the adult division. There were others in our entry, but I don't have there go ahead to post pictures of them. We were "Goblin Ball" - inspired by the dream scene in "Labyrinth." Too bad we had no where to go on the actual day - we were all ready with these costumes.

Taffetta?

Mrs. Merl said:
Barbigirl - Your dress is fascinating. What is it made of?

It looks rather silver but it is a deep shiny olive green and I think it might be taffetta. I bought it on ebay so I am not totally sure. On it way to the dry cleaners just to be safe.
