The latest of my acquisitions, a lovely condition Brooks Cafe Racer. This is the 3rd one I've owned in the last 15 years. Sleeves need shortening slightly but that's about all I'll need to get done..zips up fine with a little room for very light layering (only one that has) :)

Love those Brooks Cafe Racers. Seb Lucas is a big fan as well and helped me when I was looking to purchase one. Nice and light.

Really nice!

I love the style as well, if I didn't have a J-100 in Shinki, I'd b looking into one of those.

Is it brown or black? Hard to tell from the pics.

Thanks Gentlemen,

It's brown & I'm informed it dates to the 60's / 70's (according to vendor).

Best CR design by far! Well, this, and the early Schott CR, which is basically the same other than the smaller shoulder gussets and angled pockets. I wish to one day own this jacket.

I got another one of these last year in size 46 (fits like a 42) in close to mint condition. This Brooks is my favorite jacket pattern - to me nicer looking than the Buco j100 and a fraction of the price. They still make them after a company reboot but they are now a thick 3oz steerhide with different hardware. The original Brooks jackets are a light 2oz steer

I really like those. Impossible in a 48". I often scour the net looking for a freakishly big one. It probably wouldn't suit my body shape too much anyway, they are pretty unforgiving.bn1966, that looks fantastic on you. I'm always jealous of the guys that continually find these amazing jackets, generally at pretty good prices...congrats, and enjoy.

great looking jacket and fit
however in 40-50 years time the leather is surprisingly not fading at all there, is this characteristic of steerhide (chrome I suppose)?

My Brooks was a throw in with a jacket deal I did through the forum. All the other jackets left, but the Brooks stayed. I keep in my convertible. Haven't seen another with a two piece back. One of my most worn jackets.

Here's mine - 1970's Talon zippers. £50 from a Sheffield Retro Shop (Cow Vintage). Mint condition soft leather - a nice contrast to my Vanson Comet which stands up on its own it's so stiff.

Some fantastic looking jackets & a great catalog. I love the simplicity of the Cafe Racer & recent abstinence from desert / puddings has certainly helped with CR fit..they are most unforgiving indeed. This is the biggest I've found....21" shoulders & 26" pit to pit.

:)

Wow. That would probably fit me. I used to get excited seeing size 46-48 racers on eBay, then when you read the specs it's like a Japanese 42.:(

Aye, great pics and thank you for posting the catalogue, Terry! Another somewhat unusual feature of tmitchell's jacket is that the sleeve zips are on the inside of the sleeves. Most, if not all the Brooks' that I've seen had the zips placed on the back sleeve seam. Rarest version is the one with the top sleeve zippers. Man, I want to join the Brooks family...

The other thing I just noticed, the action back. Awesome and practical. The repro ones now, are more than likely accurate, but I don't see many with gussets or action back. I know the aero one does, but I mean the j100 etc. probably a completely different jacket all together. I just like that these have that ease of movement.
