Getting warmer...

Hey guys,

I got my first hat this winter, a Fur-felt Bailey Fedora, leather band inside. I tend to get hot quickly in the late winter/early spring days and this fur-felt hat has become too hot to wear for me. What options do I have other than a straw hat? I'd like it to look as classic as my Fedora but be cooler, lighter. I'm not fan of straw hats, but I also don't wanna get one of those molded cotton hats I see at the Gap and such just because they're cotton. There must be some alternative, no?

I've just ordered a Miller Hats Milan teardrop straw--The Danville, in cocoa--and it should be here tomorrow. These look to be great Fedora-style hats for summer wear.

I really appreciate you collecting all those links for me, but what I was hoping was that there might be some other alternative to straw hats because I'm not really a big fan of those. But, I'll read those threads anyway.

Do a search for the threads about lightweight felts = ArtLite, MooreLite, etc.
These hats are so lite & typically don't have liners so your head breathes better for the warmer temps. HTH

Sorry, I missed the "other" in "other than straw hats." That's what I get for reading too quickly.

I've just ordered an Akubra Campdraft in Silverbelly from Hats Direct. It's fur felt with a broad brim, for sun protection, and the Silverbelly is a light gray/tan color. Many on this site swear by it as a summer hat.
