I think about the same time frame as above (1920's). I think this is for a straw hat cleaning product, but may be for a cleaning service...... View attachment 202099
Another super stamp, Mark. Definitely a hat cleaning product. It says, "With Strobin alone, wash your straw hat clean." It rhymes better in German [emoji4]

Interesting posts, gentlemen. I also found one of these Strobin advertising stamps recently. This one:

Found today at the flea market:
Wool felt hat; grey with greenish tinge (faded!?); no paper labels

Nice ribbon work

Sweatband not in best condition & partly loose

Brand "Panonia" - one of the many unknown producers in the East?
Maybe Steve knows more?
37544968yx.jpg

"German workmanship"

The central dent was once "clasped"
37544963go.jpg

I guess the head was too small...

The newspaper gives us a dating reference:
Pretty sure pre war - but from when exactly???
37544971zi.jpg

37544974vu.jpg

As a supplement:
I just found a stamp on the leather,
showing an eagle with an illegible inscription.
37546645rq.jpg

Definitely not the Nazi eagle with swastika,
but the eagle of the Weimar Republic or later the federal eagle.

It's not easy to see the eagle on the stamp on the inside of the sweat band, Matt. If it is indeed the Weimar Republic eagle which was again used as the Federal German Republic's eagle, there's a timeline of before 1935 or after 1950. The newspaper cutting is, obviously, in between those dates.
Due to the wool felt, inside ribbon weave in the sweat, and overall look of the hat, I'd place it pre WWII. In fact, pre 1935 due to the Weimar eagle.

Matt, Great find! It definitely had a crease clip. I have some hats with similar construction. I am sure you are correct about it being from an Eastern company. Can you please take a closeup of the stamp? The inside is finished so it must had a crown patch. My guess would be 1930s but it could be later 1920s.

Hückel Weiheim "Chamois, 57 cm, possibly late 1950s. The fawn colored felt is lighter weight and easily dry creases. I believe this is the first one I have come across with a thin ribbon and also a wind cord. There are many examples of these HW hats with color coordinated small feathers that I am fairly certain they were installed at the factory.

That is a very simple and beautiful hat, Steve. I really like that classic look.

Thank you, guys, for the lively reception!
Thanks especially to Steve and Steve for the info!

I'm pretty sure it's the Weimar Eagle - would fit with Steve's 1930 dating.
I have "traced" it, so maybe you can see it better.
But I will try to make a better/bigger detailed photo of the stamp later.

Definitely looks like the Weimar Eagle, Matt. Any idea of what it says around the eagle?

Steve, this is difficult to decipher.
I tried yesterday, but I failed.
When I take a new picture, I'll try again.
I'll count the letters too...
Then we can all guess again!
Super, looking forward to it. A great NYE game across the continents.
Happy New Hat Year, Matt! [emoji145]

Matt, Thanks! I will have someone take a look at it.

I think this hat might be from the same source.
