German & Austrian Hutmachers

It's a really beautiful old Austrian Velour! The felt looks amazing (color, finish, hand). I am sure it's pre WWII and might be older than 1930s. Old P. & C. Habig Wien soft felts are rare finds. What is the size? Also would be interested to see the inside.

Thanks! It fits me very well, so I would call it a 7 3/8 long oval. The felt feels amazing, and the color is a beautiful black. Some mothing on the brim, but not too bad. On a trip to the northeast last year, the crown and brim got some snow, which the felt seemed to enjoy.

I will try to get a better shot of the paper label for you. Other than that, there isn't much to see inside the hat -- it's all Optimo. The liner is long gone. The previous owner oversaw the restoration.

I have had this hat for a few years but only started wearing it last year. I wasn't sure how to wear it at first. Now I love it.

Daniele and Mike, thank you very much. Both hats are very small sized 55 but both hats fits my small 56 head after steaming with a hat stretcher inside! That Manhatten is the second Hat I found with this name on a sweatband!
Stay warm, Daniele and Mike !

J. Heinr. JTA Wien, size 59cm, date stamped September 29, 1939. Very high overall quality with a very light + soft sweatband and silk liner. Old J. Heinr. JTA / ITA are rare finds. Sold by Phillip Neubauer Berlin.
Another Homburg in the exclusive serie of Austrian masterpiece.....
It is a real dimond and a super addiction to your homburg collection.
Bravo Steve!

So my source of hats as all but dried up, I got these two in a little lot from German ebay

They grey is by Mayser, Mayser's Halloh ? Missing it's label which is a shame

The tan by Huckel Flexible

Both have some moth damage but I believe they are slightly earlier than the ones I normally get
Apologies for the photo very dark here and my hands are unsteady

Paddy, Fantastic finds! The Mayser's "Halloh" is really special. It's definitely pre WWII which is a very rare find. Does the Hückel "Flexible" have a paper label? I can't tell if it is a later Tonak.
