1937 date stamped envelope from a Dutch Mayser distributor (N.V. Hoedenmaatschappij, Bussum).

The Mayser logo on the envelope matches the sweatband logo (only one I have seen) on this fantastic Mayser Velour.

No idea of date on this one. It had the crown punched out and was advertised as a bowler on ebay. It's missing a liner and has clearly been crushed, but it's on its way to recovery.

This book has some information from "Fabrikation von Damen- und Herren- Filzhüten, Der Deustchen Hutmacher Zeitung (1933)" but there is a large amount of new material including a long Glossary of hat related words / terms. It's 312 pages so difficult to translate the entire book but I will start with the Glossary.

Hat Size Conversion Table

Points Centimeter English American

What is interesting is the 1/2 Centimeter sizes so French Points are in 1/4 increments. I have seen this used in pre WWII JHS hats (see below) but I know of no other examples.

So based on the above chart Weite (Size) 5 3/4 Point would be 58 1/2cm.

Such a contrast to S,M, and L these days......

Also interesting that the US sizes only go up to 7 5/8 on this chart. It would be interesting to see if there any other examples of 1/2 CM or 1/4 French Point (used by Italian makers such as Borsalino) sizes.

I very much look forward to hearing what you find in there Steve.

I have already started on the 28 page Glossary.
