I have sold many hats in the past with size 60.

t is not easy to buy hats from Mexico, the shipping is very expensive, my size is 60 but I can use size 62 with slightly long hair, one day we may trade any hat

From what I can see there are no moth tracks I think the damages has been caused buy it being bent and creased then stored for 50 years and its been rubbed and the velour is been worn that's my completely novice inexperienced opinion ha

You might be able to get rid of some them with a heavy dose of steam and brushing counter to the nap (most likely clockwise) and finishing brushing with the nap (most likely counter clockwise).

P. & C. Habig Wien Paper Size Tag (1950s)

I took some new photos of a P. & C. Habig Wien Homburg of mine (see paper label above). This one was is from the mid 1950s and was factory or store blocked.

Robert, Nice one! It could be into the 1970s. I believe around the early 70s P. & C. Habig switched from stitched to glued liners. Carl Kellener Hamburg must have sold a lot of hats. I haven't been able to find anything online about them. I assume they are no longer in business.

F. Witzleben Leipzig Melone

This Melone turned out to be great. I am not sure if it was made by F. Witzleben or contracted. The paper label doesn't have any company mark. The felt finish and color are special but difficult to photograph. My guess would be 1920s. Size 57cm and weighs 140 grams.

WOW! That's all I can say is WOW! Not only do I love the color, but the detail work on the sweatband is just superb. The slanted sweatband stitching is awesome.

I actually spent a good portion of the day yesterday going through sweatband sewing machine patents and came across some interesting info. It seems in the 1870's/1880's there were patents for sewing machines that sewed the sweat into the hat with a slanted stitch and worked very similar to the unreeded Singer 46-100 which held the hat and spun it in a circle while it stitched the sweatband in. There are examples which use a fabric cord (not reed) and some which attached the sweat directly to the felt. Many of us on the lounge think of this trait as a 1930's thing, but this technology was around much before that. In the description of one of the patents it says the goal is give the hat a "hand stitched" appearance. I guess in the early days before sweatband machines, sweatbands were sewn into top hats using a slanted stitch with a very close together stitch pattern.
