Anton Peschel Tyrol

Anton Peschel Tyrol (Dinkelsbühl, Germany ) velour, size 7 3/8. I am thinking mid - late 50s and made for the US market. I don't believe that it was ever worn and the brown velour finish (very difficult to photograph) is some of the finest I have encountered post WWII. Also a Borsalino like corrugated vent and hanging cord (similar to Hückel). Over quality is super!

P. & C. Habig Melone (Bowler), Holder & Case

P. & C. Habig Melone (Bowler). The paper label has a date stamp of 1932. The hat is in new condition and came with the original holder and case.

Same shop as the hat so must be original. Notice the felt protector.

RLK, Steve,

great and rare finds!

I did quite enjoy the Lembert video. Actually, I should pay them a visit and see what vintage style they could come up with.

Robert, Very nice finds! :eusa_clap :eusa_clap :eusa_clap :eusa_clap :eusa_clap

Dieter, Thanks! I contacted Lembert about the Rieser and they still make them. Looks like they have their old blocks and flanges plus hat making machinery.

Lembert Rieser

Here is some info I got from my hatter friend in Augsburg regarding the Lembert Rieser posted above.

"Ries is an area in the north of Augsburg. People there had typical hats, called 'Rieser Hut'. That's why Lembert obviously called the Bowler trimmed
hat 'Ries'. (the shape) "

This could also be as in the near by Ries crater (Nördlingen)?

As requested, my grandfathers Bittner Original Ischler hat.
Black with a green tint to it. Not sure when it was made, but I know my grandparents lived in Austria post WWII 1940's.
I'm not sure if these hats where ever sold in Canada so it may be newer.
Also it's not in the greatest condition as the sweatband stitching is ripped.

C. G. Wilke Melone (Bowler)

C. G. Wilke Melone (Bowler) probably late 1920s early 30s. They were a famous hat company out of Guben (near Berlin), Germany prior to WWII.

Mayser Spezial Homburg

Mayser Spezial Homburg, size 59cm. It has moth damage especially on the bottom but still a very nice hat. Really like the liner and logo (first one I have of this type). I am thinking early 1950s.

Very old Austrain fedora from Otto Matt, Bregenz

New to my collection: A very old Austrian hat from Bregenz at the shore of Lake Constance, made by Otto Matt.

The hat is jet black and comes with an unfinished brim, unreeded sweat and no liner. The sweat carries the name of the hatter, Otto Matt, embossed i golden letters.

I believe that the hat is from the late 20's/early 30's. There is a stamp on the inside of the sweat with a date. I think it says 1928 but it's so faint that I can't really discern it for sure.

The felt is extremely soft, thin and supple and it took quite a bit of steam to convice the hat to keep the diamond crease I gave it. The lid could probably use a naptha bath but for now I only gave it a rather thorough brushing.

Contrary to the size given by the seller (54 or 6 3/4") it turned out to be a slightly large 6 7/8 (German 55).

Crown (creased): 4 7/8"
Brim: 2 3/4"
Ribbon: 2"
