Wegener "Seal", 57 cm possibly mid to later 1950s. The felt color and Chamois finish are fantastic. Also like the ribbon width and bow design. Wegener liked to use names of German towns for their colors, in this case "Fritzlar".

Wegener "Start", 58 cm, possibly late 1920s early 1930s. Over Welt Curled Brim with Back Bow. There might be some wool in the felt mix. A mix of colors with rougher clip but a very soft hand. There is some wear but still in very good condition with all original components including the crown patch. I only have two other old Wegener Soft Felts so a rare find.

The paper label is similar to this Wegener "Elasticon" Stiff Felt that belongs to Robert (RLK).

There is no doubt that this type of finish has a particular charm and it is increasingly rare to find specimens in good condition. Steve has the best collection seen so far.
huckel-prima-4-r-jpg.208017

Huckel "Prima" size 5 or 57 cm.
huckel-prima-5-r-jpg.208018

In excellent condition and ready to be worn by those who have a head of this size
huckel-prima-2-tris-r-jpg.208019

The velour is magnificent, thick and very well preserved, and the hat has an unimaginable lightness.
huckel-prima-interno-r-jpg.208020

Built in Czechoslovakia and imported into France in Poitiers exactly some time after the Second World War

For exact dating Steve will be kind enough to provide it :)
huckel-prima-6-r-jpg.208022

These are the measures: the brim are 6.5 cm, the crown 13 and the ribbon is 5 cm high.

I know I promised to let hats not of my size be avoided, but beautiful ones are hard to let go of

Daniele, Wow! It's a real beauty! Yes JHS Velour was light weight. The condition is excellent. I would say pre WWII probably 1930s. France wasn't any issue for exports from Czechoslovakia post WWI. JHS switched to war production in 1942 and became Tonak post WWII. This hat made my day!

Thanks a lot Steve, you are the right man for this kind of date estimation and a true friend.
I paid it more than I wish, but I was unable to have more informations from the French seller than some not so good pictures and an estimate of the size. It was worth.
I will make happy some else

Beautiful hat and understandable you couldn't resist, Daniele. I recently passed on one that could be its twin also from France. Still have doubts about that decision.

A recent addition and not the first time hats seem to travel in packs. This one could be the twin to the Wegener Cornett I posted here recently; it's just a different brand, but very close in colour.
Hückel Exclusiv. Size 56 with the bound brim at 6cm and the crown 10,5cm at the center dent. The colour of the auction pics was quite a bit different (that happens a lot), but I was not disappointed. No labels underneath the sweat, which is quite common for Hückel Welheim hats. The side dents sort of accidentally happened.

Stefan, Thank you for posting the photos! I really like this one. Grand Prix 1900 on the sweatband (more JHS like) is unique.
