I posted pics of this hat when I first got it, under $30 IIRC, but these will be the first head shots, I think. The color is pretty accurate on my screen, kind of a dark moss color.

The ends of the satin (?) twisted rope used for the hat band had frayed and the insides were a different color. It was something that irked me, so I took a mini Blazer torch lighter and lit the ends. Now the ends are black and don't stick out so much, LOL. But I like it better.

Oh, and I hit the front brim with some steam to straighten up the wonky-ness...

So perfect for the Mt. Angel Octoberfest! Have a sausage and enjoy.

great hats as usual, oddly the same statesman Adenauer made a cameo in a detective fiction novel i was reading not half an hour ago, set between the wars. I'm getting over flu, so reading garbage. Odd coincidence, don't think i'd thought about that european in years.
Stefan, I discovered Adenauer's Homburg was a P. & C. Habig Wien purchased at Hellings Bonn. I had the museum remove the hat so I could see the underside. :)

Karl, Steve, thanks. When I took it out I found that it actually fits me better than I remembered. I like the Colonel-line of Wegener best of their hats, I must say.

Thanks! Yes Oktoberfest starts tomorrow.

Here is an old / rare J.Hückel´s Söhne "Prima" from the 1930s. I have posted this one before but I will post it again for Oktoberfest 2017.

Great quality velour hat, Steve. For me these trachten hats have a very strong link to the region they originate from (Bavaria, Tirol e.a.), which makes them less wearable outside of that region. But that could be just me.

+1 on that. I have a Wegener Colonel Homburg from the late 50's. Lovely softish felt. It fits like a glove. Definitely one of my favourites.

That's a nice collection with the box and all these advertisements! Congrats!
Just a small comment:
The 4 characters are D.R.G.M. = Deutsches Reichs-GebrauchsMuster
This is like a patent to protect original products and used till 1945 - so the hat box must be before.

Love that colour combination. Somehow this hat comes more close to the fedora style hat and I would certainly be more comfortable wearing that one as opposed to the green one. It has less of the trachten feel to it. I have a Goldsiegel homburg; great quality hat.

I usually wear mine to Oktoberfest type events. We have such events because of large past German immigrations. Yes the GoldSiegel has a standard Soft Felt Dress Hat form so could be worn outside of such events. Some people might also wear the more Alpine forms while hiking or hunting.

Thanks! I have tried to find actual D.R.G.M. records but haven't been successful. This would be very helpful with hats that have trademarks but no company mark. The current German trademark searches are not complete. Do you have any ideas?

"Echter Rockel Hut" Rockel Alsfeld, Kraemer & Van Elsberg, G.M.B.H. Köln probably late 1920s or 1930s. I really like marketing / sales items like this placard. The placard has an patented enamel coating and a unique folding stand. Kraemer & Van Elsberg, G.M.B.H. Köln were known for such enamel placards. I also really like the Rockel logo and "Echter Rockel Hut" typography.

This placard is covered with Simili-Enamel. D.R. Patent. Often cleaning with a soft, damp cloth gives the placard its original appearance. Kraemer & van Elsberg, G.rn.b.H., Cologne

Manfred, Thanks! I really like the "Echter Rockel Hut" placard too. I have already set it up for display. Sorry to hear that the Flea Market weather situation hasn't been good. I will put in a good thought for this coming weekend!

By the way do you know what "Simili-" means?

Thanks Steve!
That is what I found.
Translation
Strass (also Stras) refers to glass stones made of lead-containing glass flux (enamel), which have been used since the 18th century as imitations of diamonds. Earlier were also not considered rhinestone, because crystals from the Rhine as the first diamondimitur. "STRASS" has been registered since 1998

Simili is the name in the past for imitation of Diamonds ( Glass )
Melted Glass coating!
