Thanks for sharing, Steve. Great Peschel plate in the German & Austrian Hutmachers thread, too.Steve, Thank you! I received them about one month ago but I just got around to posting photos.
Daniel, Great find! I really like the liner design too.I confess that I have let go of a lot of bowler hats in this period, I hope not to sadden FL friends in love with this hat.

Some were interesting, but the often small size or the exaggerated price kept me away from them.

This bowler hat has two features that attracted me.
It is a G.B. Borsalino fu Lazzaro and has a pleated bow that makes it less usual than others
View attachment 426067
Second reason it has a quite unusual size 5 1/2 which is equivalent to a 58 cm.
View attachment 426068
It is well preserved and is, unlike many of its companions, light.
View attachment 426069
These are the measures, the curled brims reach 5 cm ; the crown is 13 cm. and the ribbon measures 3 centimeters.

There are some small flaws such as a slight deformation of the anterior brim visible in the photograph. A very slight trace of dust on the edge of the brims
Many of you know that I don't have bowler hats in my collection, so anyone interested should write to me privately View attachment 426072
It's not like I find such pearls for medium-sized heads every day ;-)
It's a beautiful example and a great find, Daniele. A showcase of the craftmanship of the other Borsalino.I confess that I have let go of a lot of bowler hats in this period, I hope not to sadden FL friends in love with this hat.

Thank Steve. I agree with your appreciation on the linerDaniel, Great find! I really like the liner design too.
Thank Stefan. Sometimes somenthing interesting surface made by the Borsalino "rebels"It's a beautiful example and a great find, Daniele. A showcase of the craftmanship of the other Borsalino
GB Borsalino fu Lazzaro bowler hat. Model is called Scutari. Size 58 with the brim at 5cm and the crown about 13cm (as far as I can tell). It has one of these sweatbands (in white) with the seam at the side, rather than the back. We've seen more examples of this on bowlers. No idea why this was done.
Great hand to the felt and the quality is excellent. The brim binding and liner show their age a bit though.
G..B's "Diplomatico" looks like a mixture of various poorly assembled pieces. Felt and lining are original, the ribbon, I have some doubts, the rest is obviously from another source. Very nice and deserves a restoration.GB Borsalino fu Lazzaro lobbia or homburg in brown. Brim at 6cm and the crown at 11cm at the center dent. This is not in pristine condition, because the sweatband is a replacement (is says Morreton Velrex on there) and it wasn't put in very well. I suspect the rather odd placement of the ribbon dates from back then as well. Still worth getting and maybe a candidate for future refurb to get it closer to its former glory.
The other Borsalino used placenames for their models, which helped to decipher the name on the label. I'm fairly certain it says "Darfo".
Daniele, thank you. Yes, the labels did take me on a journey for a bit until I found out that they are indeed placenames. Still took me a while to figure out it was supposed to be Darfo thoughStefan, for the great harvest of hats arrived today on FL you have answers in the dedicated threads.
G.B. Borsalino bowler, "Scutari" is the Italian name of an Albanian city. The bowler hats of G.B. are dedicated, a series, if I am not mistaken, to the city. Currently I have one, slightly different from yours, mine has a pleated ribbon which is called "Trento". The bowlers of the Borsalino cousins is always of great class, very light compared to others I have had, even if I am not a lover of this type of hat.

"Darfo" is a small town in Valcamonica in the province of Brescia.
You see that the tradition of the cities continues ...
I talked to Fleur last week over the mail. There is something wrong with her dad, so every hat will take a littlebit longer to finish.Daniele, thank you. The second one is very much a candidate for a bit of restoration, but it won't go anywhere until the current batch are finished by Fleur. I hope she picks up some speed somewhere...
Not the news I was hoping for, but what can you do?I talked to Fleur last week over the mail. There is something wrong with her dad, so every hat will take a littlebit longer to finish.
Just wait and pray for her dad i think. :-(Not the news I was hoping for, but what can you do?
Experienced* poor auto-correctionHi fellow lounger, this Borsalino's brother brand is new to me. As I browsed through the thread I found that they seemed to have been reproduced later. I am curious if mine is an original or a later one since all the labels or linings are gone. If any experiment lounger could help identify would be much appreciated View attachment 457549 View attachment 457550 View attachment 457551 View attachment 457552 View attachment 457553
The sweat markings suggest to me that this is definitely an original fu Lazzaro. Nice find.Hi fellow lounger, this Borsalino's brother brand is new to me. Thanks a lot!Just to add a bit more to your question Jack@182838, the name design on an original G.B. Borsalino fu Lazzaro sweat looks like this:
View attachment 457630
The lettering has more swirls than the later "reboot", and a curved line under the name.
"Modern" fu Lazzaro sweats look like this:

Hope that helps.
