Finally, took the chance to take a photo of the label, Stefan. Not sure if Anzimetto is the colour or style designation.

For comparison, I've also attached the label from my fu Lazzaro Bowler (Scutari).

Two different labels, so presumably, two different time frames?

Looks fantastic, Steve. That crease creates a gorgeous profile. Have you seen a chance to take a pic of the label?

Thanks for posting these, Steve. Other than the thickness of the lines I must confess I don't see any difference between these labels. Both cell type, with the sideways GB Borsalino name and numbers in the upper cells and what I think is the style or model name bottom right. Both have the size stamped. The one I have is the same (the other one doesn't have a label). It doesn't bring us any closer in narrowing down the era in which the hat was made, but it's good to have it documented all the same.

I agree, Stefan, but would be willing to go out on a limb. The Bowler is circa early 1920s, possibly pre. The stiff felt Fedora is early 30s, possibly late 20s. All just based on style from the images of the period.

Could well be. I'm a bit reluctant to base an estimate of age on hat style alone. Seller's info says earlier, but style says later. What matters is that it's still there and you have it to enjoy it.

Buying lots of used hats without specific indications from the seller is always a lottery, you need to have a trained eye and a dose of luck is also good.
roma-gb-borsalino-bombetta-2-bis-jpg.300242

Bowler hat by G.B. Borsalino fu Lazzaro Qualità Finissima size 51/2 or 58 cm or 7 1/4 in the US.
roma-gb-borsalino-bombetta-1-jpg.300245
The internal measurements are the following: 20x16.5 cm so a full 58.
roma-gb-borsalino-bombetta-3-jpg.300247

This G.B. Borsalino bowler hat is very light and as in the tradition of the hats made by "rebels" Borsalino was finished in a masterly way.
roma-gb-borsalino-bombetta-5-jpg.300248

The conditions in which it arrived in Verona in 2021 are splendid, nothing out of place, everything in order starting from the felt, intact and with a perfect body as well as the ribbons.

The interior is great, the lining is intact and there is some little stain on the sweatband.

I spent some time trying to decipher the writing on the paper label that qualifies the type, but I couldn't, I'm sorry. If some have more good eyes, I will be grateful
roma-gb-borsalino-bombetta-6-jpg.300256

I had a good eye and a pinch of luck for a hat that's probably a hundred years old.
It is not my size, so lovers of the bowlers make your plans

Daniele, It's a real beauty and in great condition. The Sun liner effect is fantastic. Super high quality!

Second gem in the middle of some overly rolled stone.
Genova GB Borsalino 1.JPG

Another creation by G.B. Borsalino fu Lazzaro.
Genova GB Borsalino 4.JPG

Bowler size 51/2 or 58 cm or 7 1/4 in the US.
Genova GB Borsalino 3.JPG

The internal measures are slightly smaller than yesterday's sister: 19.8x16.4 let's say a 58 with some small restrictions. We are in the presence of a hat for the high end society then in Italy, superb finishes and craftmanship.
Genova GB Borsalino 6.JPG

What is noticeably different is the sweatband here in dark green, almost black, so my eyes tell me but it could be just my impressions.
Genova GB Borsalino interno totale.JPG

The bowler hat was sold in the center of Genoa, towards the port in a street that for years was a bit difficult to cross.

The conditions are perfect and time seems to have not affected the elegance of this hat.
The interior is wonderful and so is the rest.
Genova GB Borsalino etichetta carta.JPG
The label in the paper states that this bowler hat has no quality designation, but a model name "Ascott".
Genova GB Borsalino 5.JPG

This find was lucky and also a good experience helps to have a hat from a hundred years ago here.

Daniele, Another beauty! All around fantastic. The greenish textured sweatband is really interesting. I don't think I have seen one like it before.

Fantastic poster, Matt. I'm sure the fu Lazzaro Bowler coming your way is even more so. Which one did you go for, I wonder? Looking forward to seeing posts of you wearing it.

In joyful anticipation of the fantastic bowler arriving at my door - Gracie, Daniele - I thought of
a repro poster I got many years ago from the retailer in Leipzig where I bought my very first hat:
