Cool shoes!
What kind of leather are they made of?
Thanks! These are made of wild boar skin. I like that more of the "exotic" leathers are making their way over from cowboy boots to lace up boots.

They make good shoes, you'll love it.I’ve some grant stones on the way. I love their shoes. Photos soon.
My b-grade Edward boots from Grant Stone in rust kangaroo arrived earlier. They make good shoes, you'll love it.
They protect a boots tongue from being worn into by the laces, especially when using a particularly durable lace which can be more prone to doing this.I hate kilties. Just make the boots look fat and ugly. And realistically almost no one needs for our use cases.
I have used many leather and cotton laces. Believe I had paracord too. I have never seen a hint of them 'wearing into' a tongue. Discolor/imprint yes. That's what the tongue is for. On PNW boots you often have a folded tongue which is already several layers of leather in that area. They protect a boots tongue from being worn into by the laces, especially when using a particularly durable lace which can be more prone to doing this.
They can also add a tad bit of thickness to the tongue and help snug up a fit just a little.
I can understand not liking the look ( I don't like dress boots or cap toes ), but most people can actually benefit from them at least to some degree.

Plenty of boots have a much thinner softer leather for the tongue.I have used many leather and cotton laces. Believe I had paracord too. I have never seen a hint of them 'wearing into' a tongue. Snugging up is better fixed by buying boots that fit, or wearing thicker socks.
Not through but definitely into, especially with certain makes that use a thinner leather for the tongue.View attachment 670933
Unless you use these for laces, I don't see how they can wear through the tongue...
