Five Star Leather Jackets

Yeah, I'm figuring as much. The pictures of the HH and early CXL jackets aren't getting me to pull my wallet out and throw it at Sean just yet, this does seem to be very early in the beta stages. I've read that the wax runs, now the smell isn't there, but beyond that the graining and depth of color just isn't there yet. They just look like painted jackets.

Consider that there are presumably a bunch of tanneries trying to make premium leather and gain the notoriety of the brands you mentioned, and do so at a good price point, and yet only the usual suspects remain, I think it may be a while before Sean gets the recipe right if he elects to stick with it.

Of course I hope he succeeds though, I mean getting a Horween CXL-esque bespoke jacket for 1/3 of the cost of an Aero and in 1/3 of the time? I mean, that's what dreams are made of.
I disagree, at least in part and not having handled it yet. From the photos (which could be God only knows what in reality) the grain and color variation looks pretty good:

What has me perplexed is that this is the same jacket, and the color isn’t even remotely similar:

I suspect Shawn takes pics in a space with zero natural light. Either way the grain looks good to me, especially on that back panel. I don’t think this is boot/belt or bag leather. If it were the seams would show splits and little v shaped cracks. I have handled and owned the heaviest and thickest stuff from Cal and LW. I do not think this hide will be either as heavy or as stiff as either one. More to come:)
Hopefully before the weekend. I will give my full and honest appraisal.

The suspense is killing me. Yes, your upcoming jacket could be 5* leveling up, and hopefully of a great sign of things to come. It looks awesome in photos.

The grain is good. But the dark brown dye looks a lot better than the natural tan. In hindsight waiting a day or two to pull the trigger means I would also chose the darker brown. Adding another thing to my to do list. Getting some Fiebing dyes…

My goodness that looks good, and I presume that the color is supposed to be brown and not burgundy correct? I was also under the impression that it was HH not steerhide, but who cares if it looks that good.

Jacket is a slightly modded Aero style.

Added: Zipped sleeves, leather lined cuffs, buckles instead of rings on the waist cinch. Standard cotton drill and poly sleeves.

P2P: 24.75
Shoulders: 20.5
Sleeves: 26.5
Waist: 21
Bicep: 8.75
Arm hole: 11
Back: 26.75

His measurement pics look bang on so I'm cautiously optimistic. I hope it's more brown than the black in the pics suggest.

I opened this thread looking for a hail mary delivery from DHL. I was surprised with a great half time show. Well done Wardo1974, I dont think anyone can get more than that for the money. Custom sizing!

It's the sizing for sure that is the deal breaker for me. Nothing fits me off the rack, I need good chest and shoulder size with small waist. I didn't order 5* before because I didn't like the leather, so I gambled on this one.

I hope brokerage fees from DhL don't hose me. Does understating the value help?

If you are in Canada you would pay C$ 26 for every DHL package you get from Shawn. Do our American neighbors have to pay anything at all? I don't think you do.
